This is a tough conversation — but it’s one we can’t ignore.
To any current serving members or veterans who know things haven’t always been right at home…
Service changes you.
The pressure, trauma, anger, drinking, or simply never learning how to switch off can spill into relationships. Sometimes that shows up as control, aggression, intimidation, or violence.
That’s not an excuse.
But it is real — and it’s happening in veteran families.
Monash University is running a confidential research project focused on family and domestic violence in Defence and veteran communities — including hearing from men who have used harmful behaviours.
This work is about understanding what drives these behaviours, and how we build better support, earlier intervention, and stronger accountability — before more damage is done.
• Private 45–60 minute interview (phone or online)
• $100 voucher for your time
• Opportunity to contribute to real change in veteran support systems
If this hits close to home, consider stepping up and having your say.
