Many people with muscle tension don’t even realise it 💪🏽

This tension can also affect the pelvic floor muscles.
Learning to relax your whole body, including your pelvic floor, is so important. It can support your bladder and bowel function, improve core strength, and even make in*******se more comfortable.

On a day-to-day basis, this can look like:
🍃 Setting aside time to practise relaxation
🍃 Noticing tension and bringing awareness to your breathing, take a deep breath in, then gently exhale
🍃 Moving your body regularly throughout the day
🍃 Going for a brisk walk, stretching, or simply changing positions to improve blood flow (you can even set a reminder to get up and move)

If you find it difficult to relax your pelvic floor, or you’re not sure how, consider booking a pelvic floor assessment 🍃

Have you ever seen the Bristol Stool Chart?

Yes, we do talk about poo here 💩

It actually breaks your bowel movements into 7 types and gives great insight into your gut (and pelvic floor) health:
🌟 Type 1–2 = constipated (maybe your pelvic floor is working overtime)
🌟 Type 3–4 = ideal, smooth & easy to pass
🌟 Type 5–7 = a bit too loose, your system might need some support

If you’re straining, rushing, or avoiding the bathroom altogether, your body might be asking for support
think: good hydration, enough fiber, proper toileting posture, and a pelvic floor that knows when to relax ✨

Recovering from a caesarean is more than just letting your scar heal. Your body has gone through major surgery and deserve the right support 🌸🌸

We can support you with:
🌸 scar healing and mobility - this can include massage, with other options like cupping and dry needling
🌸 abdominal assessment and rehabilitation
🌸 pelvic floor assessment (yes, this is still often recommended after a c-section)
🌸 pain around the scar, in the abdomen, hips or back
🌸 returning to exercise - appropriate exercises tailored for you, to help you get back into what you love and want to do
🌸 postural and lifting strategies - help avoid any aches and pains when you’re breastfeeding, holding your baby, and doing the repetitive movements all new mums do

Book a postpartum check and let us help you optimise your recovery during your postpartum journey 🫶🫶🫶

Not sure if compression wear is right for you? Chat to one of our women’s health physios!

The right compression garment can provide great support during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and even in the years beyond.

Getting the right fit is key. When it’s right, it can help you stay active and keep doing the things you love.

Like anything, it works best alongside the right exercise (we are physios after all 😉).

The first 12 weeks postpartum are an important window for abdominal recovery.

During pregnancy, many women develop diastasis recti, a natural separation of the abdominal muscles that occurs to make room for your growing baby.

Research shows that the early postpartum period is when the connective tissue and abdominal muscles have the greatest potential to recover and regain tension.

Postpartum recovery involves your whole core system. This can include things like:
🌟 Coordinating your core with your breath and pelvic floor
🌟 Avoiding excessive abdominal pressure early in recovery
🌟 Learning how to correctly engage your deep abdominal muscles
🌟 Gradually rebuilding strength with exercises tailored to your body

Getting individual guidance can help you understand how your body is recovering. The right support early on can make a big difference in your recovery.
