Kudos Health

Kudos Health KUDOS ~ "Praise for exceptional achievement" Hi there! Thanks for taking the time - my name is Mick and I’m grateful you’re here. Everything else is white noise.

My personal mission statement is to help people create healthier and happier lives. I work with both individual and corporate clients to help them elevate their physical and mental wellbeing. My late Pop used to make a toast before every meal ~ “Cheers to health and happiness” At the time I would roll my eyes and think to myself “here we go again”. However, as time has passed I’ve learnt that Pop

was onto something - because at the end of the day our health and happiness, and the health and happiness of our loved ones are all that really matter. I’d love the opportunity to hear your story, and if we’re a good fit - the opportunity to work with you or your organisation. SERVICES PROVIDED:
* Workplace Wellbeing Workshops
* Health Coaching
* Mindfulness & Meditation
* Men’s Movement & Mindfulness
* Personal Training
* Bootcamps
* K16: 16 week Health & Fitness Program

I used to wake up and hit the ground running 🏃🏽‍➡️

Almost literally - because my days were packed with “life” - no doubt just like yours!!

✔️ Getting ready for work
✔️ Responding to emails
✔️ Coaching clients (and training myself)
✔️ Marketing
✔️ Program creation
✔️ Calls, study, chores, school pick-ups, bedtime routines…
✔️ …then back to work
✔️ More study before finally collapsing into bed

I’m tired just writing that out 🥱

Then I realised that the waking up and GOING strategy wasn’t really working for me.

So I made a shift.

Instead of waking up and rushing, I now wake up and STOP.

✨ Sit in silence
✨ Breathe
✨ Meditate
✨ Practise gratitude & mindfulness

This small change grounds me, regulates my nervous system and allows me to show up to the day with more clarity and balance.

It’s now a non-negotiable in my routine because on the days I skip it, everything feels off.

👉 What’s one thing you do in the morning that sets the tone for your day?

I read a lot of self-development & personal growth books (no doubt like many of you!)

In the space of parenting - this one takes the cake!

Never have I highlighted a book more in my many years of reading.

Work is important - no doubt.

But ultimately your role and title are replaceable.

My most prestigious title is “Dad”.

It cannot be replaced in my children’s life and therefore it trumps any and every role, promotion or salary package that I may encounter.

If you’re a parent - I cannot recommend this book more highly.

Is it just me or has the sunnier weather of late boosted your mood?

It’s no coincidence.

After what seems like three months of rain, with the recent sunnier, slightly warmer days - I’ve been spending more time outdoors.

Trail riding.
Family bike rides.
Walks with the dog.
Working outside in the sun.

The great outdoors does wonders for our health and happiness.

☀️ Vitamin D boost - Just a little sunshine (10–30 minutes a few times a week) is enough to top up your vitamin D, which helps with energy, mood and keeping your body strong.

🌳 Nature’s medicine – Spending a couple of hours outside each week has been linked to feeling happier, less stressed and more balanced overall.

💡 Studies also reveal that people who spend more time outdoors report:
* Improved sleep quality
* Lower blood pressure
* Enhanced concentration and creativity

So if you’ve been feeling brighter and lighter, perhaps it’s due to those moments in the sun and in the green spaces around you.

And if you’re not yet making the most of it – this is your invitation to step outside, breathe deeply, and let Mother Nature work her magic.

🍪 Jam-packed will all the goodness 🌟

No, sorry… I’m not referring to choc-chip, peanut butter cookies.

I’m referring to my fav wellbeing workshop to run. It’s also one of the most popular, and brings together three hugely valuable concepts ⤵️

✅ Mindfulness for stress management – equipping teams with tools to stay present, better deal with stress and reduce burnout
✅ The power of gratitude – building an attitude of gratitude creates a culture of positivity and recognition
✅ The art of creating healthier habits – helping individuals make sustainable changes that boost energy and resilience

🥊 The impact?
* For individuals → less stress, more focus and a greater sense of wellbeing.
* For organizations → stronger collaboration, higher engagement and a healthier workplace culture.

We’ve seen how even small shifts in mindset and daily habits can create ripple effects that benefit both people and performance.

If you’re looking to invest in your team’s wellbeing (and productivity), this workshop is for you.

💬 To learn more - reach out as I’d love to connect and share more about how this wellbeing workshop could support your workplace.

🔀 Small changes = big shifts 🚀

I have worked with so many clients over the years that put so much pressure on themselves to completely change.

Hear me out - you don’t need a total life overhaul to feel healthier and happier. You just need a few different habits, a few mindset shifts, and a little support along the way 👊🏼

That’s what I do as a health coach!

I help you figure out what actually works for you, so you can ditch the all-or-nothing cycle and finally feel good in your body and mind.

Think of it as having a coach + cheerleader all in one.

If you’ve been craving more energy, more balance, more calm and more joy in your daily routine - I’d love to help.

“Inner work is so woo-hoo”

My thoughts exactly… about 10 years ago.
A lot has changed in that time.

Like, a lot!!

One of the most transformative practices I’ve seen for both personal and professional wellbeing is living with gratitude.

It shifts our perspective, strengthens relationships, and creates more joy - not just at home, but also in the workplace.

Teams that implement simple acts of gratitude have greater collaboration, resilience and productivity.

Alongside gratitude, another powerful tool is learning how to reframe negative self-talk.

Interestingly, research shows this can sometimes be even more effective than simply replacing it with “positive self-talk.”

By challenging and reframing the way we speak to ourselves (yep - we all speak to ourselves either verbally or via our thoughts), we build inner strength and a mindset that supports growth rather than self doubt.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be facilitating my workshop “The Power of Gratitude and Self Talk” for organisations in the education, creative and construction industries - helping teams cultivate these practices in ways that lead to happier, more productive lives.

✨ Gratitude and self-talk aren’t just woo-hoo practices, they’re a way of being - and they have the power to change how we work, connect and live.

On the back screen of all of my devices is this image of my vision board.

Whenever the time ends with a “0” this guy is looking right through the “0” at me saying:

“You’ve got this Mick!”

Ok, perhaps he isn’t, but that’s what I like to believe - and I find it motivating.

My Messe to you today is - you’ve got this!!

Have a fab day all!!

Ever feel like your brain is running a marathon yet your body is stuck in traffic?

This actually happened to me today.

While I was stuck in slow, wet weather traffic - my mind was moving a million miles an hour.

I had a lot of “things” on my mind - a sick child, an assessment that’s due, I had forgotten to leave the dog inside (he frets in the rain ☔️), an adjustment to an upcoming wellbeing workshop I wanted to make… oh, and I was late for a meeting as I was stuck in this slow, wet weather traffic!!

That’s where swooped in like a calming superhero 🦸🏼‍♂️

Just a few minutes of deep breathing and staying in the present moment helped the stress dissolve. No fancy equipment needed, just me and my breath 🌬️

Give it a try next time your mind is anywhere but the here and now.

Stay mindful.
Stay happy.

We’re pretty good at taking care of our physical health - eating better, hitting the gym and getting our steps in 👟

But let’s be honest… how often do we give our mental wellbeing the same attention?

Some of my go-to tools are super simple but so effective ⤵️

🧘 Mindfulness & meditation
🌬️ Breath work
💭 Self talk
🙏 Gratitude
✍️ Journaling
🤲 Tapping (EFT)

None of these have to be big, time consuming practices. Even little daily habits can completely shift how you feel.

If you’d like some easy ways to start building this stuff into your life, just give me a shout.

📞 I’m more than happy to have a free chat and share what’s worked for me and for others I’ve supported.

🛑 The power of scheduling time to stop

One of my clients recently had a breakthrough that I think many of us can relate to - I most certainly can!! 🙋🏽‍♂️

They’re incredibly studious, ambitious, and committed to growth — always looking for the next skill to master, the next goal to achieve.

It’s a mindset I deeply admire.

But in our conversation, they realised something important:

“I think I need to schedule in time to stop, be mindful and reflect”.

We often think the fastest way forward is to keep pushing… but without moments of pause, we risk running into burnout, both physically and mentally - again, I can relate!

Rest is not the opposite of growth — it’s the foundation of it.

Scheduling mindful pauses isn’t about doing less - it’s about giving your mind and body the chance to recharge so you can do more efficiently and effectively.

If you’re a high-achiever reading this, here’s your gentle reminder:
📅 Put stopping in your calendar - even if it’s only a few minutes.
🧘‍♂️ Protect that time like you would an important meeting.
💡 Remember — your best ideas often come when you’re not “doing.”

What’s one way you could make space for intentional rest in your week?

Our Story

WHO WE ARE

My name is Mick and I am the owner, Health Coach and Trainer at Kudos Health. For over 15 years my passion has been learning as much as I can about Health, Fitness and Happiness. These three aspects of our life are often interrelated and therefore need to be addressed equally. Before getting into the health and fitness industry I was constantly researching the human body; learning about how certain foods effect our energy levels, musculature and fat loss; reading about motivation and mindset and why some people succeed and others don’t when both given the same information and guidance; the keys to leading a happier life and the list goes on and on and on… (yep, I love to read and I love to learn!) After completing a Bachelor of Business (marketing) and working in an office environment for a year or so I decided that sitting behind a desk wasn’t for me. I did the only logical thing and packed up my life and went to live in Vancouver with my now wife. In Canada my passion for health and fitness grew and I started reading and attending workshops on fitness, nutrition, mindset and health. Two years later we returned to our beautiful city of Newcastle and Kudos Health was created! I started Personal Training clients one on one and in a Bootcamp setting and soon after realised that there was a big gap between people knowing what to do to become healthier, and actually taking action - this revolved around creating new habits! I then went on to study Wellness Coaching, Nutrition Psychology and Health Coaching. Health Coaching has changed my world. It has also changed the world of my clients. My late Pop used to make a toast before every meal – he would say “To health and happiness”. He was clearly onto something! As the years pass by and I’ve now become a husband and father, I’ve come to realise that at the end of the day these two things are really all that matter. If you have your health and happiness and the health and happiness of your family, everything else is white noise. I would love the opportunity to meet you, hear your story and offer my knowledge and experience to help guide you to create a healthier and happier life… After all ~ this is MY purpose in life.
