Kickstart your ASUM25 experience in Wellington with our Pre-Conference Workshop: Lung Ultrasound for All - a half-day program designed to sharpen your technical skills and boost clinical confidence.
Led by expert faculty Dr Sierra Beck, Dr Jacques Loubser, and Rex de Ryke, this interactive workshop blends expert-led teaching + hands-on scanning to help you:
✅ Optimise lung ultrasound images with confidence
✅ Recognise normal anatomy vs. artefacts across pleura, lungs, and diaphragm
✅ Identify key pathologies: pleural effusions, pneumothorax, pulmonary oedema, fibrosis, consolidation
✅ Apply diaphragmatic assessment (excursion + thickening) to clinical practice
🔑 This workshop also contributes to CCPU training requirements and is recognised for CPD points.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Peter Weimersheimer 🇺🇸 to ASUM25 in New Zealand!

Dr Weimersheimer is Vice President of Clinical Implementation & Education at Butterfly Network, Inc and is committed to transforming healthcare, especially in resource-limited settings, through handheld digital ultrasound and Compass AI. He focuses on developing sustainable POCUS programs, curriculum design, and hands-on training.

He is Professor Emeritus of Emergency Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine (University of Vermont) and was the founder and Director of the University of Vermont Emergency Ultrasound Program. Over 30 years of clinical and POCUS experience, he has integrated POCUS across multiple medical centres, developed POCUS governance and led education programs across clinical teams.

In addition to hearing from Dr Weimersheimer the breakfast session will include first hand insight and experience from Dr Felicity Park and Dr Nitik Ram on the impacts of ASUM Outreach and teaching support in Fiji.
