National Red Nose Day πŸ‘ΆπŸ»

Such an important charity to raise funds and awareness for SIDS and stillbirth in order to help protect little lives.

Since its inception they have raised $18 million, saving 12,069 babies and reducing sudden infant deaths by 80%.

Any donation is helpful to this brilliant cause in order to support little ones and their families ❀️

At TBHC we get asked a lot of questions in regards to returning to exercise after giving birth. These are the main things I like to talk about in regards to this topic:

-”Listen to your body”

-Invest in a well supporting bra

-Wear supportive footwear

-Have an awareness about how your pelvic floor and core stability is functioning post birth

-The use of compression shorts/leggings or tubi grip can be used to help with support through the abdominal, low back and pelvic region

Reach out to your healthcare provider if you have any questions regarding returning to exercise post partum.

We train for marathons, we train for dance competitions, we train for new roles at work. So why would we not prepare ourselves for labour and birth. We have a team of osteos at TBHC who absolutely LOVE birth prep appointments.

Birth prep appointments involve us assessing and treating your body as a whole in order to identify areas of restriction in order to help optimal foetal positioning and mothers comfort. We also look at pelvic floor assessment and treatment, lots of education and advice for pre birth, birth and postpartum and rehabilitation exercises for aches and pains.

As we always say in the clinic, knowledge is power, so why wouldn’t we want to apply this to birth and postpartum recovery.

Nope! Not necessarily!
Mastitis is the product of an inflammatory reaction. Inflammatory in not helped by antibiotics- who work on a bacterial infection.
If mastitis hangs around for to long, it can turn bacterial. That is when you may need antibiotics.
Until then, the answer is no!
Very gentle massage techniques towards the armpit- not the ni**le- is helpful is moving that inflammation through the lymphatic system.
There are other conditions that can cause inflammation in the breast with feeding which we look at such as milk blebs, cracked ni**les- to name a couple.

What we find helps the most, along with self massage, is using our therapuetic ultrasound on the affected area of the breast. It helps to get that inflammation moving on pronto.

We have more for you to read in the blog on massage techniques and avoiding antibiotics- perfect for that 3am call when engorgement is progressing and you need help NOW!

Babies and children are not just little versions of adults.

The paediatric population is different in their anatomy, neural and physical development, reflexes, emotions and nutritional requirements. Their overall needs and desires vary greatly compared to ours as adults.

When it comes to potential illnesses these can also differ between the younger and older population. So it is important to know what conditions may potentially affect babies and children, so effective treatment can be implemented quickly.

So if you are taking your little one to see any health professional, please make sure they have further training in paediatrics.
