Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) – what are they?
A range of inflammatory and degenerative conditions affecting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, peripheral nerves and supporting blood vessels, WMSDs may be caused by a single workspace event, but commonly result from repeated harmful workspace activities over an extended period of time.

WorkSpace Week aims to reduce the occurrence and impact of WMSDs caused by physical stress, mental stress, repetitive work and poorly set up non-ergonomic workspaces. Chronic neck and back pain, shoulder stiffness and headaches can be linked to modifiable risk factors in Australian workplaces.

This WorkSpace Week (20-26 Oct), adjust your thinking to work well every day! Explore free resources, hints and tips at www.workspaceweek.org.au - because prevention is the best protection!

🌐📈 World Statistics Day 📈 🌐
Do you know the impact of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in Australia?
• WMSDs #1 work, health and safety issue impacting workers - Safe Work Australia
• $55.1B – Annual cost of MSDs to the Australian economy including direct health costs, lost productivity, absenteeism and reduced quality of life (Deloitte Industries)
• 7.3 million (29%) - Australians suffer from chronic MSDs (ABS National Health Survey June 2024)
• 57% - The majority of Australian workers’ compensation claims are for WMSDs (Safe Work Australia) with SafeWork NSW reporting serious WMSD claims requiring one or more weeks absence, averaged almost $65k per claim between 2018-2023.
• Top 4 WMSDs: Low back pain, neck pain, mid-back pain and cervicogenic headaches
• 82% of WMSD patients reported relief through chiropractic healthcare ( for the Chiropractors Association 2023)

Today is the start of National WorkSpace Week, an initiativeby the Chiropractors Association which aims to create safe and healthy workspaces for everybody and to lessen the long-term impact on workers, employers, and the economy by improving the spinal health and wellbeing of all workers vulnerable to WMSDs.

After many wonderful years, two of our long-standing team members are moving into new chapters – our Myotherapist of 9 years is embarking on a new career, and our Remedial Massage Therapist of 15 years is reducing her hours to spend more time with her grandson. We’re now looking for two passionate therapists to join our supportive clinic.

We’re seeking two distinct styles of practitioner:
• Myotherapist – Focused on rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and helping patients manage recurring or long-term injuries. Myotherapy is ideal for those dealing with chronic pain or old injuries and needing a structured rehabilitation plan.
• Remedial Massage Therapist – Skilled in deep tissue work, cupping, and trigger point release. Remedial massage is perfect for easing muscle tension, promoting relaxation, and helping patients recover after a tough week.
While both roles work on pain and function, Myotherapy typically addresses deeper underlying causes, whereas Remedial Massage often provides targeted relief and relaxation.

Our patients receive chiropractic care and often need a mix of myotherapy or remedial massage to enhance and support their care.
If you’re a practitioner who aligns with one of these approaches – or you bring a unique blend of skills – we’d love to meet you. We have a range of hours available now, with more opening up as the year goes on.

Interested in joining us? We’d love to hear from you!
