Yesterday, BHN joined other members of the Southern Homelessness Service Network to mark Homelessness Week 4 โ€“ 10 August and call for more public and community housing to help end homelessness.

The event, run by Launch Housing and hosted by BHN at the Victorian Pride Centre, was part of the Houses at Parliament Campaign, involving the display of 60,000 origami paper houses in community spaces to raise awareness of the 60,000 people who are homeless in Victoria.

Those in attendance to support this important cause included The Hon Mark Dreyfus KC, MP; Katie Hall MP; Nina Taylor MP; Ruth Gordon from Southern Homelessness Services Network; BHN CEO Andrea McLeod and Port Phillip Councillor Libby Buckingham.

BHN provides compassionate support to those experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness across Port Phillip, Stonnington and Glen Eira communities.

If you or someone you know needs help, call our triage team on 9684 4281 or visit one of our clinics at South Melbourne, Prahran or St Kilda.

Did you know that 30,000 Victorians donโ€™t have a home tonight? That includes 6,800 children.

Theyโ€™re living in their car, staying on a friendโ€™s couch, in a shelter or refuge, or have nowhere to go at all.

This Homelessness Week, 4 - 10 August 2025, BHN, as part of the Southern Homelessness Service Network, encourages the community to join the call for more public and community housing to help end homelessness. Find out more at https://www.vhn.org.au/housesatparliament

To support Dental Health Week, weโ€™ve prepared a handy blog on this year's theme, 'Help Kids Reach Every Smilestone'. It answers some common questions for children and families, and offers practical tips to help parents and carers play a key role in supporting their child's dental care journey.

Members of BHNโ€™s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group were thrilled to join elder, Uncle Den, and cultural educator and guide, Jakobi, this week for a First Nationโ€™s culture walk in the Botanical Gardens, Naarm ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ

With stories, laughs, and knowledge shared at every twist and turn, the morning was filled with shared wisdom, deep learning, and ways to understand, embrace, and connect to Country.

This was also a fantastic starting place for our RAP members to begin reflecting on the sensitivities, considerations, and practices they can begin to implement as they commence our RAP journey at BHN.

Neighbours and staff at our Parkdale site were treated to a spectacular display of precision engineering this week with delivery and installation of a new, modular sterilisation building in the Carrier Avenue carpark.

The building was craned into the site in three parts in an impressive display of teamwork and know-how, against a perfect blue sky.

The largest component of BHNโ€™s Sterilisation Project, the new building is part of our commitment to providing better health and wellbeing support for our community.

We thank clients and visitors for their understanding as we complete this important upgrade.

On June 18th, our Health Promotion Team brought together sports clubs across five local government areas for a Mental Health and Club Wellbeing Workshop facilitated by Todd Morgan and Nee Ravikumar from Outside the Locker Room ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

Designed to strengthen the confidence and capability of club champions to lead safe, supportive mental health conversations and foster positive club cultures, this workshop targeted trusted coaches, committee members, and senior players to drive change from within.

On the night, topics ranging from mental health fundamentals to having safe conversations, building inclusive cultures, and creating psychosocially safe communities equipped participants with practical tools and confidence to champion mental wellbeing in their clubs.

We would like to extend a big thank you to our partner, Outside the Locker Room, and our supporters, the City of Kingston, Glen Eira City Council, Stonnington City Council, Bayside City Council, Victoria and City Of Port Phillip, for making this a successful and informative night!

NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year marks 50 years of honoring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture and resilience and embraces the theme - The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.

In line with this year's theme, we look forward to further deepening relationships with our First Nations communities as we commence the journey to develop BHN's inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan.
