🌱 Exciting News from Marriott EMS - The Greenline Project! 🌱

Marriott Enviro Management Services (EMS) is thrilled to kick off our 12-month grounds maintenance contract for Stage 1 of the Greenline Project at Birrarung Marr, right on the beautiful banks of the Yarra River.

Our crews of Supported Employees led by our Job Coaches will be:
✅ Caring for gardens, lawns, and boardwalks
✅ Supporting Melbourne’s vision for a greener, more vibrant city
✅ Delivering social impact through inclusive employment

Our partnership with Symal Group, engaged by the City of Melbourne is about more than landscaping—it’s about creating meaningful, paid employment opportunities for people with disabilities, ensuring that iconic parts of Melbourne like Birrarung Marr deliver lasting community benefits -

The park’s name comes from the language of the Wurundjeri people who originally inhabited the area - ‘birrarung’ means ‘river of mists’ and ‘marr’ relates to ‘side’.

The EMS team are proud to play a role in shaping Melbourne’s future while championing diversity and inclusion in the workforce.

This past weekend (4–5 October 2025), our talented participants Greg and Kerry took part in the Special Olympics Bowling Victorian State Championships held in Ballarat — and both came home with Gold Medals! 🎉
Their dedication and sportsmanship shone throughout the competition, with both Greg and Kerry giving their very best on the lanes. Kerry shared that she was so overcome with emotion after her win that she cried tears of joy, with her team coach stepping in to help calm her down — a truly heartwarming moment of pride and achievement.
Congratulations to Greg and Kerry for their amazing efforts and outstanding results. We’re so proud of you both!

🌟 Explorers Club on the Move! 🧀🍒🚋

This week our amazing Explorers—Stuart, Will, Phil, and Loui—set off on a sensory-filled adventure to Queen Victoria Market! From a classic morning tea at Flinders Street Station to hopping on the City Circle Tram, the journey was just the beginning of a day full of fun.

Highlights included:
🧀 Tasting delicious cheeses in the dairy hall
🍒 Sampling giant black cherries from the friendly fruit vendors
🥭 Holding a huge thorny durian (the King of Fruit!)
🐉 Seeing vibrant red dragon fruit for the first time
🐊 Spotting colourful cube models of Aussie reptiles like crocs, platypus & snakes

After lunch, Phillip showed off his travel skills by navigating back to Moorabbin via train. Go Phillip! 👏

This outing was all about exploring new sights, tastes, and experiences—and the smiles said it all 😊

Community Comes Together to Raise Funds for Cancer Council
Hughesdale Lifestyle Centre was buzzing with warmth and generosity recently as residents and staff gathered for a delightful Biggest Morning Tea event, raising $187 for the Cancer Council.
The event, held in the heart of the community, brought together neighbours, friends, and families over tea, treats, and plenty of good cheer — all in support of a worthy cause. The effort was a beautiful demonstration of community spirit and solidarity in the fight against cancer.
A special shoutout goes to Warren, who served as the morning’s very own barista. His coffee-making skills kept the cups full and the conversations flowing — thank you, Warren, for bringing your energy and warmth to the day!
To everyone who donated, baked, brewed, or simply showed up to share a cuppa: thank you. Your support helped make this event a meaningful success. Together, we’ve made a difference — one cup at a time.
Here's to more moments of kindness, connection, and community at Hughesdale. 💛☕
