At 92 years young, one of our community members, Pat, has made waves on the world stage! 🌎🏊‍♂️💪

This year at the World Aquatic Masters Championships in Singapore, Pat won gold in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke (90–94 age group) — shattering world records in the 100m and 200m events! 🥇🌟

A few years ago, Pat noticed his balance wasn’t keeping up with his fitness, so he joined our 10-week Active LiFE balance program to improve his stability. After noticing significant improvement, he stayed on as a regular participant in our South Melbourne exercise group, continuing to maintain his strength and coordination.

We’re incredibly proud of Pat’s dedication to not only swimming but to lifelong health and wellbeing. His achievements are a powerful reminder that with community, perseverance, and the right support, anything is possible at any age. 🙌✨

We’re proud to be part of today’s launch of the Community Health First People, Place and Partnership Impact Report 2024-25.
The report celebrates the achievements and innovations of Victoria’s community health sector and the vital role it plays in our health system.
We’re also delighted to see BHN’s Better Homes Better Health program featured, recognising our work supporting public housing tenants through Victoria’s Big Housing Build.
👇 Learn more and read the full report below. 👇

Community Health is reaching more Victorians than ever before.

Our People, Place & Partnerships Impact Report showcases the collective achievements of Victoria’s registered, independent community health organisations and the growing demand for trusted, local care.

In the past year, over 674,000 Victorians accessed community health services — an 11% increase.

Community health is now the first point of contact for many Victorians, delivering care that is:
✅ Affordable

✅ Local

✅ Personalised

Community health programs are reducing emergency department visits, improving chronic disease management, and saving the health system money — with some programs returning up to $13 for every $1 invested.

Today on Allied Health Professionals Day we celebrate the health professionals who play a key role in the health and wellbeing of all Australians! 🎉

This year’s theme, “Stronger Together”, shines the spotlight on how allied health professionals work alongside doctors and nurses to deliver complete team-based care. From physios and dietitians to speech pathologists and occupational therapists, allied health services are fundamental in keeping our community healthy and well.

Join us in recognising and honoring incredible contribution. 💙

💙 National Carers Week commences this Sunday — a time to recognise, celebrate, and raise awareness for the 3 million Australians who provide care to a family member or friend.

🫶 This year’s theme, “You are, know, or will be one,” reminds us that caring touches nearly everyone at some point in life.

☕ To show our appreciation, we will be hosting morning tea events across our sites throughout the month as well as our regular seasonal events. These gatherings offer carers a chance to connect, share experiences, and enjoy some well-deserved time out from their caring role.

🌐 If you’re a carer (or know someone who is) and would like to register with our Carer Respite Program, visit our website for more details.

🌈✨ Yesterday, Better Health Network (BHN) proudly hosted our first public LGBTIQA+ Seniors event at the stunning Victorian Pride Centre — and what a celebration it was!

The fabulous Frock Hudson lit up the room with sparkle and song, leading a joyful singalong of beloved classics that had everyone smiling. Guests enjoyed a delicious morning tea, explored the award-winning VPC building, and learned more about BHN’s inclusive health services during a presentation by our team leaders.

The energy was warm, welcoming, and full of connection. As one participant shared, “It was good know about BHN services.” Another added, “More Frock Hudson!” - and we couldn’t agree more!

A huge thank you to City Of Port Phillip for making this special event possible. Your support helped us bring community, colour, and care together in a truly meaningful way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating pride, community, and the vibrant contributions of our LGBTIQA+ Seniors. 💜

🌈Recently, our Social Support Groups turned up the fabulous for our very first Pride Afternoon Tea - and what a joyous celebration it was!

We were thrilled to welcome the one and only Annie Social from to Mentone, dazzling us with ABBA and Bananarama classics while our clients sang, danced, and twirled in their feather boas. 💃✨

Annie brought more than glam - sharing her story of drag, performing arts, and the LGBTIQA+ community while connecting with each client in heartfelt ways.

For many of our clients, it was their first time experiencing a drag performance and by the looks of the smiles, definitely not the last. 💖

Here’s to love, pride, and making every voice feel seen and celebrated. 🏳️‍🌈

Did you know Australians lose a staggering $31.5 BILLION every year to gambling?
That’s more than any other country in the world — and even more than what we spend on alcohol, to***co, and illicit drugs combined! 🚫🍺🚬💊

With major sporting events like the AFLGrand Final 🏆 just around the corner, it’s important to stay mindful of the real risks behind betting.

The truth is simple: gambling is designed so that most people lose — and only the industry wins. 🎲💔

If you or someone you love is struggling with gambling harm, you’re not alone. ❤️ BHN’s Gambler's Help Southern program offers free, confidential support.

🧠 As Dementia Action Week comes to a close, we’re proud to introduce a new smart tool to help deliver even better care and support for people living with dementia and their families.💙

✨ Introducing – a digital guide designed to support our clinical teams in creating tailored care plans and answering important questions, ensuring clients receive best-practice care.

Dementia is now the second leading cause of death in Australia, and the leading cause for women, with over 433,000 Australians currently living with the condition. Providing care is often complex and challenging - not just for clinicians, but also for families and carers.

That’s why this new tool matters. ✅ Tried and tested by our clinicians, My Dementia Companion Pro is now being rolled out across BHN teams to strengthen dementia care and offer more meaningful support to our community.💫

🌱 Together, we’re building stronger pathways of care for people living with dementia and their loved ones.
