Mt Pleasant Acupuncture - Kylie Skillen Acupuncturist When Kylie’s not treating, she is a passionate gardener who enjoys growing her own food and living sustainably.

Meet Dr Kylie Skillen
Doctor of Acupuncture (BHsc)

Kylie’s complementary medicine journey started 30 years ago when her finance job sent her on a health retreat where she experienced a wide range of natural therapies. After this life changing experience, she began to study anything to do with natural medicine, with qualifications in massage, acupuncture, yoga teaching and yoga therapy. She was drawn to acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine after experiencing its positive effects with her own health and found it supported her body’s healing capacity and increased mental/physical well-being. Kylie’s acupuncture treatments are tailored to the individual and may include needling, cupping, moxibustion, Chinese herbal formulas, breath work and stretches based on your needs. Her special interests include acupuncture for fertility (pre-conception, IVF/IUI support); menopause and pregnancy related symptoms; stress and emotional issues (anxiety/depression); autoimmune disorders and pain management (acute & chronic). She is a mother, book reader, food lover and dog mum who enjoys wide open spaces on her rural property. Education and Certifications
Kylie has a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture), is an accredited member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA), and is a registered practitioner under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA).

A positive step forward for men’s health and fertility care 🤍

Australia has introduced its first nationally developed clinical guidelines for the management of male infertility — a long-overdue and welcome change.

Male infertility contributes to around 50% of couples experiencing difficulty conceiving, yet testing has traditionally focused on women. These new guidelines aim to rebalance that approach, with s***m and hormone testing now included earlier in the fertility journey, alongside access to counselling and holistic support.

This shift recognises male fertility as a vital part of overall reproductive health — and represents a meaningful step forward for individuals and couples navigating infertility.

🌸Preparing for a fresh or frozen embryo transfer? Acupuncture is commonly used alongside IVF to encourage relaxation, ease stress and help you feel more balanced during such an important stage of your journey.

Many people choose to have treatments both before and after transfer to feel calm, grounded and supported throughout the process.

With extensive experience in IVF and fertility care, Dr Kylie provides a gentle, nurturing space to support you—wherever you’re at on your path to parenthood.

🤰🏼As you enter those final weeks of pregnancy, it’s completely normal to feel a mix of excitement, anticipation and a few nerves as you get ready to meet your baby. From 38 weeks, Dr Kylie offers gentle acupuncture sessions designed to support your body as it naturally prepares for birth.

Research suggests acupuncture may assist with cervical ripening, so these sessions focus on points traditionally used to promote relaxation, encourage softness through the cervix and help calm the mind during this special time.

✨Bonus for partners: Dr Kylie also provides birth partner education - teaching acupressure points that can be used during labour for comfort and support.

Care is always personalised and aligned with your broader birth plan and medical care.

Are you trying for a baby in 2026? The new year is a great time to start preparing your body for conception.

Ideally we start treatment 3 months prior as it takes both follicles and s***m this long to mature. However we are happy to meet you wherever you are in your journey, regardless of whether trying naturally or via IVF/IUI.
