🌻 Many of us are choosing to start the new year with a focus of change. Change towards something we desire or maybe something that we want to let go off.

❀ I personally also spend time thinking about all I love and appreciate and all that I want to keep and build upon

🌺 Gratitude is another focus I try to aim for. Gratitude for all the opportunities, the learning and the experiences in 2021, and I think we can all agree they came in thick and fast this year! I try to remember that no matter what, there is always three ways to see things. Your way, my way and a way we both don't know yet and I am greatful for this.

🌼 iIt's a time to reasess, to keep what serves us and to let go of what doesn't.

GOD, THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT ❀️
As someone who writes often, I naturally appreciate epic writing when I see it. This morning, I came across this written piece of art and it moved me deeply, so I had to share it with all of you! Not only are these words true theatre, they also act as sound advice ❀️

my brain and
heart divorced

a decade ago

over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become

eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other

now my head and heart
share custody of me

I stay with my brain
during the week

and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another

- instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week

and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:

"This is all your fault"

on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past

and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future

they blame each
other for the
state of my life

there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying

so,

lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut

who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage

and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head

I nodded

I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand

"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed

my gut smiled and said:

"in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,"

I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away

"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus
on the uncertain future

your lungs are the perfect place for you

there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either

there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment

there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."

this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves

and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs

I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs

before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said

"what took you so long?"

Who's voice do you hear internally?

Is it you voice that you hear criticising you?

Do you also hear your voice complimenting you?

Is it time to take responsibly for your own happiness? Acknowledging the talented and lovable you! The strong survivor that you are?

Make sure you see all of you and choose to support yourself.

Appreciating you for who you are.

And if you are able to find your weaknesses than you should also be able to find your strengths and celebrate them.

As I sit here sharing my drop of luke warm oat milk that my toddler served me full of pride as my cup a tea, (along with T Rex) I ponder about a few things. All along craving that real cup of tea.

And I realise how easy it is to forget to appreciate the here and now.

Do you even know how you feel right now? Or are you thinking about how you will feel if this or that will happen. Which by the way might never happen anyway.

Are you holding on to a feeling that was created yesterday? Does holding on to that feeling help you in any way?

Are you able to take a deep breath, and just look around you. See, hear, smell, feel the now?

I look in to my luke warm oat milk, taking a sip, share with T Rex and smile at my toddler who thinks she did something wonderful for mumma and she has!

Indeed this is the best luke warm watery tea I had today and it was served with love. So much love.

And I know, tonight when we do our bedtime ritual of asking everyone in the family what they feel gratitude for in today, I will say this moment right now.

Feeling gratitude to feel the now. If I don't see the now, I dont see or feel the love that is attached to this moment.

Seeing the small things is what creates big feelings. That goes for possitive and negative.

If you choose to see the small things to confirm that everything is negative than you can also choose to see the small things to see the possitive.

The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

Retrain your brain. See the possitive. Feel the possitive. Live the possitive. Be present.
