They're great tools, but most of them hit the 100db threshold to require hearing protection even when used occasionally - which means regular hearing screens are needed to comply with safework legislation

We all work in locations where we can't smoke and we've all seen how not getting a cigarette can affect someone's mood and judgement... fortunately there are a range of alternatives and risk controls you can implement, which also decreases the risk of second hand smoke exposure to your other workers. If you work with dust this is even more important!

An injured worker can be a stressful time for everyone but there's a few keys initial steps that are clinically proven to avoid the months long horror stories. The biggest key is to get the injuried worker not only back to work, but back to as close as their normal duties as possible.
Especially for the young guys sticking them on "office duties" in head office away from their workmates is a death sentence

Why are position descriptions important?
Like trying to provide engineering advice on a building when you don't have a soil report or a location, the tests and investigations we can do are pretty endless but ultimately give you a broad result that might not be very helpful - health is always a spectrum. A good description of duties and conditions - especially when workers can be deployed all over the state - help us give you the best understanding of the risks and controls needed

How long should a medical be valid for? When you're talking general guidelines, it can be hard to give a satisfying answer but it's like everything else in your business - it depends on the conditions and the risks involved.
Of course, everyone has different health journeys and for an individual the overall medical might be valid for a longer and shorter period but it's rare not to have additional "maintenance" tests like regular hearing evaluations to continue to monitor progress
