Wow, what a year it has been!
We want to thank all our amazing clients and their families for allowing us the privilege to come into your homes and support you as you have needed. Bright Star would not be possible without each of you!
To our awesome staff new and old, thank you for your willingness to continue to learn, support, grow professionally but also personally. It is a true honour to reflect on our team and the continual growth not just in hiring more staff but in each of you and your growth as a support worker.
It is important to remember, that Christmas can be a hard time of year. Being autistic and needing a script but it not going to plan. The extra pressure around masking and not sure why you need to be grateful when you really don't like the socks you have been given and actually won't wear them. The overwhelm of wrapped presents and not sure what to expect, the different foods and the list goes on....
I guess what I am saying is its ok to have the same dinner of nuggets and chips. Its ok to have that same breakfast.. It is also ok to spread out the opening of gifts through out the day or even days. You make the day work for you as best as you can.
We hope that the next week you are able to find small moments of joy and peace.
Merry Christmas and have a safe happy new year.
With Kindness always, The Bright Star team.
