✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us for Bethesda's annual Celebration Day! ✨
We were proud to recognise our long-service award recipients – together representing an incredible 250 years of care at Bethesda. 💙 It was wonderful to celebrate alongside so many friends.

👏 A special congratulations to Helen Round, Manager of Perioperative Services, who is this year's winner of the Matron Beryl Hill Exemplary Practice Award – an outstanding achievement!

Our CEO Dr Neale Fong was a panellist at the CEDA ‘State of the State WA: Health Service Delivery’ event yesterday.

When asked about how to tackle long wait times in emergency departments and aged care, Neale responded, “There has to be a radical reform of the funding and incentives, so that from whoa to go someone is responsible.”

He appears today in The West Australian article, ‘Aged Care at the Heart of Health Crisis’.

✨Last week we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, deepening our understanding of the land we live and work on.
📖 Each day we shared an Aboriginal Story of the Day – highlighting significant locations around Boorloo/Perth and their Dreamtime stories.
🧠 On Thursday we took part in a fun quiz to learn Noongar place names, and some lucky members of staff took home prizes.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and to those who contributed stories and knowledge 🖤❤️💛

National Volunteer Week 2025
This week, we celebrate the incredible volunteers who are the heart of our Bethesda community. From greeting visitors with a warm smile, helping patients find their way, lending a hand in admin, to the happy hour trolley and simply being there when someone needs a kind word or an ear to listen on the Palliative Care Unit — your time, compassion, and dedication make all the difference.

You don't just support our staff — you lift spirits, ease stress, and bring comfort to our patients and their loved ones every single day.

🌟 To every volunteer who gives their time so generously — thank you. Your impact is felt in every corridor, waiting room, and ward.

On Wednesday, two of our Palliative Care Specialists, Dr Keiron Bradley and Dr Adele Clare, were keynotes at a RACGP Event on Managing Patients in the Terminal Phase. Delegates were given the option to attend in person or join online. The session was really engaging with lots of positive feedback. Thank you Bernadette Nowak for pulling the event together.

If you would like to Join Bethesda's RACGP event database to be the first to learn about any future education sessions, please email rsvp@bethesda.org.au

Celebrating Palliative Care Week with our amazing team! This week staff have been pampered and treated to reiki and sound baths, provided by some of our wonderful volunteers! Palliative care can be an emotionally difficult area to work in and so it was nice to give staff the opportunity to take some time out for themselves. The week was topped off with cupcakes 🧁🫶🏼

The highlight of Palliative Care Week is always the Palliative Care WA Breakfast. The breakfast provides an opportunity for the palliative care sector to come together to reflect on the past year and share our vision for the future. We all had a great morning and loved catching up with our colleagues who are also working in this very important area. Bethesda continue to be proud sponsors of the breakfast.
