On 19 November we acknowledge the men in our homes, workplaces and communities. Many men continue to support others while saying very little about how they feel.
In Australia, su***de remains the leading cause of death for people aged 15 to 44. In 2024 there were 3,307 deaths by su***de and more than three quarters were men.

International Menβs Day is an opportunity for Supported Care to recognise these realities and to promote compassionate environments where men feel safe to slow down, speak openly and seek help when they need it.
Meaningful support can be simple.
1. Asking how someone is going
2. Creating time to listen without judgement
3. Reminding them they do not have to handle everything alone can help more than we realise.
It is OK to slow down. It is OK to say you are not OK. It is OK to ask for help.
If you or someone you know needs immediate support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or MensLine Australia on 1300 78 99 78. In an emergency, call 000.
