The action is live at Melbourne Park as wheelchair events kick off with inspiring competition in both boys’ and girls’ wheelchair singles and doubles, showcasing some incredible young talent on the Grand Slam stage!

The Auslan Emergency Interpreting (AEI) App, developed by Expression Australia, now supports an estimated 3 million Australians, providing 24/7 access to emergency services in Auslan.

With the AEI App, users can:
✅ Make a video call in Auslan
✅ Connect with a qualified Auslan interpreter
✅ Have the interpreter call 000 for them
✅ Communicate clearly during emergencies

The Walking and Rolling Together project is supporting people living with mobility disability to access Victoria’s natural environments, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of walking outdoors.

An accessibility audit tool has been developed to assess existing paths and help confidently map and promote all-abilities accessible walks for people with disability, carers and service providers.

☀️ Staying safe in the summer heat

Summer is here and warmer weather can increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially for those who are more vulnerable. Taking simple precautions can make all the difference.

Here are some easy ways to stay cool and well:

💧 Keep hydrated
Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Water-rich foods like fruit can help maintain hydration too.

❄️ Stay cool indoors
Spend the hottest part of the day in the coolest room you can find. Use fans or air conditioning where possible. If you need to go outside, avoid peak heat hours (11am–3pm) and stay in the shade.

👕 Dress for the heat
Light, loose-fitting clothing, a hat, and sun protection help protect your body from the sun’s heat.

⚠️ Know the signs
Feeling dizzy, weak, or unwell in the heat can be a warning sign — seek medical advice promptly if this happens.

💡Make sure to follow your local emergency app for heat alerts and safety updates.
