Community opportunity
North Queensland Primary Health Network are supporting the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and The Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI) to recruit community members with a lived experience of mental health to a research project that looks at how to navigate mental health care in regional Queensland.
AusHSI and QUT are looking for community members who reside in the Greater Whitsunday Communities and Bowen Basin Region.
Aim
The project aims to reduce barriers to accessing care in regional Queensland. Key project goals are increasing service options and improving access to appropriate and timely mental health care.
The role of the community members
Selected community members will give advice and support to researchers throughout the project. They will be involved in research activities including planning, asking research questions, and communicating outcomes from the lived experience perspective.
Remuneration and Support
Consumers will be remunerated for their time in line with Health Consumers Queensland’s remuneration position statement. Parking and travel expenses will be covered. $187 per meeting 4 hours and under *(*Covers pre-reading and travel time) or $40 per hour for more informal activities. Community members will be provided with support to join the group, orientation, and any additional support needed to participate to set community members up for success.
