We had one of our first public speaking gigs on Friday.

The Baden Powell Society asked us to come along and talk about All-Abilities and what we have been doing in the community. Brett, Paul, and Bruce did a fantastic job representing our branch.

What an amazing weekend!

We held our first big event for National Carers Week, which was a great success. All of our members worked so hard to make it an amazing morning. We had a lot of fun and even picked up 1 new member and got some interest from other community members who may join later.

Now the challenge is to make it bigger and better next year, watch this space.

Congratulations to all our members who took part in the day.

Our Bi-weekly chess game at the Cleveland Library will be postponed this fortnight as we will be celebrating National Carers Week, by hosting a Carers morning tea at the Redlands City Lions hall. This event will be from 1030 am to 12 pm and everyone is welcome to attend. So if you have been thinking about joining Lions or finding out if we are the group for you. Come along and say hi? National Carers Week is from the 13th to the 19th of October.

To recognise the importance of carers and how much they do for our community, we will host a Morning Tea on the 19th at the Redlands City Lions Hall from 10:30am to 12 pm.

HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY!!

The best thing about Lions is the friendships you make. In our code of ethics, it says to hold friendship as an end and not a means. It is never transactional. We come together using our strengths to make our community better. We are a group of people from all walks of life, making a difference.

This year's theme for Autism Awareness Day is Empowering Voices. We do this at Brisbane Redlands All-Abilities Branch of Brisbane Macgregor Lions Club. We have members on the spectrum who bring unique qualities to the branch.
We are so much richer by empowering our members and allowing them to achieve the goals they set out for themselves.

If you are in Sydney the Sydney Autism Community Lions Club Inc. is working hard to make a difference in their local community and for those in Melbourne give the members at Melbourne All-Abilities Lions Club a shout-out.

A Melvin Jones Fellowship is a very significant award! A huge shout out to Russel and Vicky from Melbourne All-Abilities Lions Club on receiving this honour. They are amazing members and are always available to us to help guide and inspire.
A very well deserved honour for 2 amazing members.

We are proud to announce that Lion Russell and Lion Vicki were both presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowships at our first meeting of the year on Tuesday night. Two very inspiring members of our club that go above and beyond in serving their community. Well done.
