The Seaton Place community came together to commemorate Anzac Day yesterday during a moving service. A special mention and thank you goes to Graham, a RSL community volunteer who generously made the home their own memorial items, including a commemorative wooden cross, wreath and slouch hat. The wood for the cross was donated to Graham from Bunnings, a local school donated the slouch hat and Graham had the wreath specially made for the home. During the ceremony Graham delivered his annual speech to the home while residents and team laid wreaths.

Today, Saturday 25 April, our communities across Australia are coming together to commemorate Anzac Day on the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings. For many, this whole week has been about reflecting and honouring those who have served in times of peace and war.

We were lucky enough to sit down with several veterans in the lead up to today and are honoured to be sharing their stories of resilience, comradery and hope.

Another moving story as we prepare to commemorate Anzac Day is from Bolton Clarke Seaton Place in Cleveland. Resident Gwen's connection to wartime spans back to her younger years growing up in London during World War I. These were times she says were pinnacle to her decision to join and start her nursing career in the British Air Force - a role she would then carry on for 40 years.

Recently, residents had the pleasure of trying something new by working with Richa in a trial session of this fresh artistic venture. The program will incorporate traditional Indian clay along with mirrors to craft beautiful decorative pieces. In this first session, residents engaged with wooden coaster blocks. It was a successful start, and we are excited about the upcoming sessions where residents will build upon what they have started.
