Today’s bus trip was a delightful adventure! We enjoyed a scenic drive up the winding roads of Mount Tamborine, taking in the breathtaking views along the way. Our first stop was the enchanting Witches Falls, where nature’s beauty stole the spotlight. To top it all off, we stepped back in time for a fun and nostalgic lunch at the vibrant 50s Diner—an unforgettable finish to a truly wonderful day!

Monday, 24 September 1945 – 80 years ago today – Queensland Governor Sir Leslie Orme Wilson officially opened the Kenmore Repatriation Sanatorium on the site of what is now Bolton Clarke Fairview, Pinjarra Hills. The first 12 veteran patients had been in residence in August under the watchful eyes of medical superintendent Dr George Cherry and Matron Viola Everett from the 112 Australian General Base Hospital. The sanatorium was founded to support ex-service personnel suffering from tuberculosis and continued to serve the veteran community until its closure in 1994.
