🧦 Can you help Wynnum Community Place? 🧦

As the weather cools down, Wynnum Community Place is seeking donations of socks to support some of our most vulnerable community members. A small item can make a big difference this winter.

📍 Drop-off location: 55 Berrima Street, Wynnum
🕘 Hours:
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 9am – 3pm
• Wednesday: 9am – 12 noon

If you’re able to donate, your kindness will be greatly appreciated. Please share to help spread the word 🤍

It’s a gorgeous summer day here in Wynnum, and while we’re all busy soaking up the sun and enjoying the bay breeze, our team is looking a little further down the calendar.

Summer feels like it’ll last forever, but we know the winter chill will eventually find its way back to our streets. To make sure everyone stays warm when the temperature drops, we are officially requesting socks 🧦

For those doing it tough or experiencing homelessness, socks are often the most requested, yet least donated item.

We are collecting:
• New socks: Any size, style, or color!
• Must be clean, free of holes, and still have their ‘spring’ (no saggy ankles, please!).

Did you know WCP have hundreds of ‘googly eyes’? - yep, donate your used socks and if they can’t be used then we’ll make hilarious hand-puppets out of them using our googly eyes to bring our community joy!

Looking for Something Fun To Do Why Not Visit HOTA 👩🏻‍🎨

HOTA is a large cultural precinct on the Gold Coast, featuring an Art Gallery, Outdoor Stage, Cinema, Theatre and Lakeside Grounds. Accessibility features including Auslan interpretation, quiet hours, ramps and lifts, disability parking, quiet spaces, and accessible changing facilities.

🌞 Sunroom-Abstract Landscapes 🌞

Date: Friday 21st February 2025
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: The Studio, HOTA Gallery
Tickets: $15 (includes support worker/carer)

The sunroom program provides a safe creative space for art-making, creative play and exploration for adults who identify with disability.

In February they are taking inspiration from the works of Bridget Riley in the HOTA Gallery exhibition A Bigger View to create our own abstract landscapes. We’ll explore how shape, colour and composition can communicate a sense of place and atmosphere.

No prior art making experience is necessary, only a willingness to engage your imagination, curiosity and sense of play.

💐 Congratulations To Elizabeth and Brad on your Engagement 💐

Huge congratulations to Liz and Brad on their engagement after 26 wonderful years together. They first met through friends, and their story shows great things really do grow over time. As long-term participants with CNHC QLD, they are a valued part of our community.
