Did you know that your NDIS plan includes set amounts for support, but if a therapist has to travel far to see you, they charge for that travel. And, this means less money left for actual therapy time. Bummer, right?

Of course, sometimes you need a specialist who isn’t nearby—and that’s okay! And yes, local services can have waitlists. But with a bit of patience and persistence, I’ve found that local providers are more likely to make room for clients in their area. After all, we’re all part of the same community.

SEQ Disability Support is here to help you connect with great local providers—people who understand your needs and live nearby. Whether you’re looking for therapists, personal care, or community access, we’ve got the connections and know-how to make it easier.

We’ll help you find trusted support close to home, so you can stop clocking kilometres and start getting the help you need—right where you are.

So, are you ready to get the best value out of your NDIS budget?

We understand the frustration, the guilt, the emotional exhaustion that families face when they’re forced into unpaid carer roles.

Early this year, a client’s family member said, “Just tell me where to sign—let’s get started". She was exhausted—after months of showering his loved one with disability almost every second day because the support worker didn’t show up. Juggling work and travel after repeated no-shows was stressful.

So, we showed up in person—with printed forms, ready to talk. In just a few minutes, we worked through everything clearly and respectfully, ensuring the family understood both their rights and the responsibilities service providers have—especially those who sign people up but fail to deliver.

Four months today... 2 no-shows because of Cyclone Alfred and a happy client!

If you are an NDIS participant and you’re tired of chasing providers, missing supports, or feeling forgotten in the process—let’s change that.

We help NDIS participants and families navigate the system with less stress and more support.

Why We Love Using Local Helpers (And Think You Will Too!)

Have you ever been stuck in the car forever just to get to an appointment?

Yeah, us too. That’s why we think using helpers (like speechies, physios, and other awesome support people) close to home is a way better idea.

We’ve met some really cool local allied health providers lately—people who are kind, smart, and really care about helping others.

And the best part? They’re nearby! No need for a long, boring drive or wasting NDIS money on travel when you could be doing way more fun or useful things instead.

So if you’re looking for good people to help you reach your goals, we can help you find them right here, close to home. Because getting support should be easy, friendly, and just around the corner.

If you're an NDIS participant or carer looking to connect with trusted local providers, reach out to us. Let’s build your support team, right here where it counts.

Getting ready for tropical cyclone Alfred - People with Disabilities and the Elderly in Southeast Queensland

As Brisbane braces for a severe weather system predicted to hit this week, it's important to be proactive about safety, especially for people with disabilities and the elderly who may face additional challenges during emergencies. The approaching conditions could bring heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding, so it’s crucial to be prepared in advance.

Here’s a checklist to help ensure you’re ready in case of emergency:

1. Prepare Emergency Supplies
Ensure you have enough essential supplies to last you for at least 72 hours. This includes:
Medications: Have a sufficient supply of all necessary medications. Keep a list of your prescriptions in case you need assistance.
Hygiene Essentials: Stock up on items like toilet paper, wipes, and hand sanitizers.
Food and Water: Have non-perishable food items and at least three days' worth of water.

2. Evacuation Plans
Review your evacuation plan and ensure you know the safest routes to take. If you rely on mobility aids, make sure they are in good working order and easily accessible.

3. NDIS Emergency Response
If you are a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant, check with your service provider, support coordinator or plan manager about their emergency response arrangements. The NDIS has provisions to help people with disabilities in emergency situations, so make sure you know what support is available to you.

4. Communication
Stay connected with family, friends, or carers. Make sure you have a reliable phone charger and that your contacts are aware of your situation.
The time to act is now. With the right preparation, you can stay safe and ensure that your needs are met during the storm. Don't wait until the last minute—take these steps today to be ready for any emergency. Stay safe, Brisbane!
