February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Australia. It aims to educate, advocate, elevate awareness of ovarian cancer and raise funds to change the future of Australians impacted by this disease.
Each year, approximately 1900 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, generally at an advanced stage due to vague symptoms, with around 1000 women in Australia dying due to ovarian cancer every year.
In Australia, the five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49 per cent and there is no early detection test.
Wearing a teal ribbon can start a conversation that changes lives, increase awareness of the disease and assist with raising funds to support people affected by ovarian cancer - ribbons are available online or through participating Terry White Chemmart locations.
