Honestly, how cool are our bodies and their ability to shift, make space and change to allow a baby to pass through!

In this image, you’re seeing the Rhombus of Michaelis- a space on the lower back that expands as your baby descends.

👀 When we see this…we know baby is moving down, deep into the pelvis, toward the pelvic outlet.

This is why movement and positioning matters and why birth isn’t just about “waiting to dilate.” 💁🏽‍♀️

If you want to actually understand what your body is doing in labour and how your baby has to complete their cardinal movements (and how to support it), my next OMP Birth Education Course is on May 9.

This is where we connect the dots…so you’re not relying on someone else to tell you if you’re “progressing.” 😎

I realised I forgot to post my February recap (oops), but it looked similar to this one 😬

March was fun, full and beautiful. Here’s a little recap in my little doula-verse 🌍

🚘 I didn’t take a pic, but I also had a minor car accident which led me to getting a new car that is much more safe for living rurally and having clients who live off the beaten path. No one hurt or injured thankfully.

So grateful I get to do this for work. I still pinch myself sometimes ✨🥰

So many women enter labour expecting it to look one way…

Linear. Predictable. “On track.”

And when it doesn’t?
It’s often labelled as a problem.

But a lot of what’s pathologised in birth is actually normal physiology. 💁🏽‍♀️

👉🏼 A baby rotating.
👉🏼 A body taking its time.
👉🏼 A nervous system needing safety.

Even things like longer, more intense labours with posterior babies often just need the right support, not urgency.

When you understand what’s normal, it can help you move through labour with more trust.

If you’re pregnant and want to actually understand what your body is doing (instead of just being told what’s happening to you)…

I’d love to supoort you as your doula or have you inside my birth education course 🤍 DM me for more.

Being a doula starts the moment we decide to go on this journey together.

But here are some on the unseen roles…
🤍 The messages when she’s unsure.
🤍 The debriefs after appointments.
🤍 The quiet reassurance when the system makes her question herself.
🤍The constant, steady presence in the background.
🤍 Being on call 24/7 in your final weeks

And then, in birth:
👉🏼 protecting her space,
👉🏼 supporting her physiology,
👉🏼 helping her stay connected to herself and in the moment.

This work isn’t always visible.
But it’s deeply felt.

Because birth is more than just one day…
It’s emotional. It’s relational. It’s human.

Happy World Doula Week to the women doing this work…seen and unseen 🤍

If you’re in Coffs Harbour and want this kind of support around you…
I’d love to walk alongside you. Send me a DM or book a free connect call.

Some women feel safest in hospital.
Some women feel safest at home.

Birth works best when a woman feels safe, supported, and undisturbed - wherever that place is for her.

For this family, that place was home.
And the reward? Climbing into their own bed with their baby, exactly where they belong. 🤍

Seeking support for your home or hospital birth from someone experienced who unequivocally trust women and birth? DM your “due date” and let’s chat! 🤍
