Kinesiology4Kids When movement is medicine, play is essential, learning is spatial, and integration is inevitable.

Braingym Balance Buttons
This simple neuro-movement switches on whole-brain integration in under 30 seconds.

How to do it:
🖐 Place one hand gently over your belly button (anchoring your centre of gravity).
👆 With the other hand, place two fingers on the mastoid process — the bony point just behind your ear.
🔁 Hold for 10–20 seconds, then switch sides.

Why it works:
✅ Activates left–right brain communication
✅ Improves posture, coordination, and spatial awareness
✅ Helps the nervous system shift from stress → balance
✅ Supports memory, reading, handwriting, and emotional regulation
✅ Ideal before learning, speaking, sport, or calming after overwhelm

Perfect for kids and adults — especially those who:
• Feel scattered or “out of their body”
• Struggle to focus or retain information
• Need grounding before performance or public speaking
• Experience sensory or emotional overload

Try it before studying, in the classroom, during transitions, or anytime you need a reset.

Butt walking — yes, it’s a thing! This simple floor-based movement activates the Quadratus Lumborum (QL), a deep stabilising muscle connected to the Large Intestine Meridian in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Strengthening this area not only supports posture and spinal alignment but also encourages healthy elimination, emotional release, and grounded confidence.

When children sit in a W position, it often signals weak postural and core stability — the body compensating for underdeveloped cross-patterning and hip engagement. Butt walking helps correct this by strengthening the lower back, hips, and obliques while enhancing left–right brain integration and midline crossing.

Benefits include:
- Improves posture and core strength
- Balances the Large Intestine Meridian for better flow and digestion
- Supports emotional letting go and adaptability
- Enhances brain-body communication and learning readiness

Perfect for kids who W-sit, slouch, or tire easily when sitting upright — and for adults seeking a stronger connection between body awareness, emotional regulation, and brain integration.

Strengthen your eyes and integrate your brain with this simple yet powerful Braingym activity.

Using two different-sized X cards, move them in a gentle compass-style motion to activate different eye positions and learning pathways. This strengthens neural connections that support reading, comprehension, and visual performance — both in the classroom and on the sports field.

Perfect for little ones who lose their place on the page, individuals with dyslexic tendencies, or anyone wanting to improve focus, coordination, and confidence.

Benefits:
• Improved reading and comprehension
• Greater visual confidence and performance in sports
• Reduced eye fatigue and stronger concentration
• Enhanced left–right brain integration and visual tracking

Note:
Whenever starting Braingym activities for learning support, I always recommend beginning with a full Kinesiology Balance — either in clinic or online. Releasing the emotional layers of frustration or self-doubt creates space for focus, confidence, and ease in learning to flow.

Braingym – Meridian Colour Massage

Bring a splash of colour and connection to your baby’s development with this gentle Meridian Colour Massage. Using transparent scarves — often found in Montessori-style play — this soothing sequence blends colour therapy, tactile stimulation, and parent–baby bonding.

As you flow through each colour in the order shown, you’re not just playing — you’re activating the Central and Governing Meridians, helping your baby’s energy move smoothly through the body. Each colour reflects one of the Five Elements, supporting emotional balance, sensory integration, and co-regulation.

It’s also a beautiful tool for rebuilding connection after separation or birth trauma, restoring safety and trust through rhythm, touch, and colour.

Best used:
• During playtime or after bath for relaxation
• To balance emotions and energy before sleep or transitions
• To reconnect after birth or early stress

Braingym for Babies - The Hug
Gentle baby massage to support ATNR and Grasp Reflex integration — two key reflexes for early movement, coordination, and left–right brain development.

Why it matters:
- ATNR integrates around 6–9 months, helping your baby roll, crawl, and coordinate both sides of the body.
- Grasp Reflex integrates around 5–6 months, allowing your baby to release, reach, and explore with purpose.

Encouraging these through touch and movement builds a strong foundation for posture, balance, focus, and emotional calm.

Use during playtime, tummy time, or before bed for connection, co-regulation, and nervous system harmony.

Strengthen your focus, confidence, and coordination with this simple Eye Dominance Braingym activity 👁️🏴‍☠️
Using a pirate patch, we isolate and strengthen each eye individually to enhance visual tracking, depth perception, and nervous system balance.

✨ You’ll notice:
• Sharper focus and steadier eye control
• Awareness of your dominant eye and how it influences movement and confidence
• Stronger hand–eye–brain connection for smoother coordination
• Improved reaction time, precision, and posture
• Better tracking when reading, learning, or playing sport

This gentle exercise activates the visual and motor integration centres of the brain — promoting balance, clarity, and emotional stability.
Perfect for developing learners, athletes, or anyone wanting to upgrade their visual performance and brain–body harmony.

Lazy8- Brain Gym for Eye Tracking & Focus
This simple yet powerful Brain Gym movement helps the eyes glide smoothly across the midline — strengthening visual tracking, reading fluency, and focus. By tracing a sideways 8 (∞) with your eyes or hand, you activate both brain hemispheres and calm the nervous system, improving coordination, balance, and concentration.

Why it’s good:

- Enhances reading and writing flow
- Improves hand–eye coordination
- Supports focus, calm, and emotional regulation
- Integrates left and right brain communication

Best used:
Before homework, screen time, or any activity that needs focus and balance. Try it slow and smooth — breathing as your eyes glide effortlessly around the shape of infinity.

Switching Points
I often say in clinic — these are like calibrating your mind and nervous system back into your body. A simple yet powerful way to reconnect, reset, and prepare for whatever comes next.

The perfect home activity to keep your child’s brain and body in sync between sessions. These gentle points prepare the nervous system for learning, focus, and calm transitions — whether before school, homework time, or after a big day.

Also amazing for children who feel less enthusiastic about sport or music lessons due to frustration, coordination challenges, or low muscle tone — helping to restore confidence, rhythm, and flow.

A timely reminder when setting kids up for a triumphant school year is the choice or ratio of movement, play and weekend sport that supports their learning, regulates the nervous system, fosters success and balances physiological development. Every child is different in their interests, learning style, stage of development and success patterning and a Kinesiology session helps navigate all of that.

And the truth is that even as an adult, we know this is as true.

The vestibular system lives deep in your body's inner ear and sends signals to your brain when you experience movement or are moved upon by gravity. A well-developed vestibular will maintain balance, aid smooth coordination of both the left and right sides of the body, give precise biofeedback of where the body is moving in its environment, and make us feel safe.

Balance underpins the whole nervous system and is vital to engage in free play, rhythmic games and explorative learning. Vestibular movements can be stimulated in the presence of body control, such as this child on the swing, or without, such as a baby in mums arms.

All colour has a measurable wave frequency, waves that stretch further than the eye can see. These frequencies correlate with sound, emotions, moods and healing vibrations in the body.

It is becoming more commonplace to talk about the effects of overexposure to blue light on circadian rhythms, the health benefits of light therapy, and the importance of art therapy in PTSD and during times when the articulation of emotions is not viable.

Colour play is just as important in body and mind development.
