*CHILL THE HECK OUT*

I'm seeing A LOT of people in my clinic at the moment who just can not get on top of their immune system. They are taking so much vitamin C, echinacea, whatever but they can't shake their chesty cough or runny nose.

Why? Because they are EXHAUSTED. We are just pushing, pushing, pushing to get through the day, get to the weekend... But our adrenals are burnt to a crisp.

*Rest* does not come in a supplement bottle.

We have responsibilities, kids, deadlines... I get it! But if you have time for social media or TV, you have time to put your legs up the wall for 3 minutes to listen to the Smiling Mind app on your phone and take some deep belly breaths.

Go to bed 10 mins earlier to read a great book.
Sit outside in the sun to eat your lunch.
Take an annual leave day if you work full time.
Delegate tasks to take the pressure off.

Stop trying to be Wonder Woman/Super Man. There are lots of simple and achievable ways to carve out pockets of space to rebuild yourself.

Emma the Naturopath's Top 5 Things I LOVED This Wk:

1. My husband’s gluten-free waffles that taste like fluffy cinnamon doughnuts.
2. Two drops of jojoba oil in Weleda almond moisturising lotion =saving my face from wintery chaos.
3. Bush walking!
4. Asking Eadie which teddy bear she’d like to take to the teddy bear’s picnic at preschool. “I want to bring Leodore but he’s an introvert.”
5. Receiving a letter from myself.

PS. On the last day of an eight week mindfulness course we were handed a pen and piece of paper to write a letter to our future selves that the facilitator would randomly send in the future. This week (three months later) my letter arrived.

We wrote about the things we learnt from the course that we want to remember and our short term and long term goals regarding mindfulness and self-care.

My short-term goals included:
-make my self-care a priority/non-negotiable rather than falling in a heap at the end of each day/week.
-to be gentler with myself at work. Learn loving boundaries so I don’t take on more than necessary.

Oh hi! Emma the Naturopath here!

It’s rare for me to share testimonials from clients but I really wanted to with this one. Why? Because I feel so passionate about helping out mama bears with their vitality. “I guess I’m just tired because I’m a Mum” does not hold up in my clinic.

I’m going to do everything in my power to find out any underlying causes. Often someone’s iron levels are on the floor, their thyroid autoantibodies are through the roof or their adrenals have shrivelled up into little sultanas. Sometimes they’ve been to the doctors and had a blood test and been told that everything was within normal range.

Why? Generally it’s because mama’s put everyone’s needs before their own and live in “survival mode”. I say this because it takes one to know one!

So when this gorgeous client of mine in her early twenties with two young kiddies told me a couple of months ago “I guess I’m tired because I’m a Mum”, I rubbed my hands together…

“So I had to tighten my watch because the strap that was fitted to my wrist in December is now so loose it spins right around! Its metal mesh - hasn't just stretched :)

Also, I hesitated to try on a size 8 jacket because I usually get 10s and it fit like a glove :) my pants all fall down now too haha.

Still having some mood swings but getting there. Barely ever need naps and am loooooooving the gym. :)

So thankyou for not passing me off as a tired mum and telling me it's all in my head! Can't wait to see my pathology results coz I'm definitely FEELING so much better!”
