Are you well adjusted?

Every week, 400,000 Chiropractors help improve the health and wellbeing of everyday Australians - and there's good reason why.

Your Central Nervous System - made up of your brain and spinal cord - is the command centre of your body. When your body becomes misaligned, it doesn't just show up as physical discomfort - it can affect the way your nervous system communicates with your brain and body, which may show up as brain fog, difficulty concentrating, low energy, and more. Everything is connected.

Dr Kjersti's adjustments works with your body to restore balance. It's physical, yes - but it's so much more than that. ✨

What the Literature Tells Us About Chiropractic Care in Pregnancy.

Research suggests that chiropractic care may support a more comfortable pregnancy by helping with musculoskeletal pain and possibly improving the birth experience.

A review of literature reports that regular chiropractic care during pregnancy has been associated with reports of shorter labour durations - with some findings showing first-time mothers having about 25% shorter labour and women having subsequent babies having about 31% shorter labour compared with those who didn’t receive chiropractic care.

These findings are summarised in a full-text review article available here:👉 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2647084/

While high-quality clinical trials are still limited, chiropractic care is also commonly used to help manage low back and pelvic pain during pregnancy - a prevalent issue that can affect comfort and mobility 🤰🤰🏼🤰🏿✨

Could your baby have tension in their spine, cranium, or sacral dural system?

Some signs to watch for:
- Prefers turning their head to one side only
- Restricted neck movement or difficulty turning the head
- Stiff shoulders when getting dressed
- Stiff hips or bending legs on the change table
- Dislikes tummy time
- Uncomfortable in the car seat

These little signs can indicate tension that may affect your baby’s comfort and movement. Gentle care can help support your baby’s spine and overall well-being.

If you’re noticing any of these, Dr Kjersti can help provide gentle, tailored support.

Do you have an unsettled baby?

If your baby cries for long periods, seems uncomfortable after feeds, arches their back, or struggles to settle and sleep, you’re not alone. Many unsettled babies experience colic or reflux in the early months.

Infantile colic is defined as prolonged, inconsolable crying, while reflux may show up as frequent spitting up, discomfort after feeds, irritability, and difficulty lying flat. Although many babies eventually “grow out of it,” this stage can be exhausting for families and many parents choose to explore complementary care, including chiropractic care, for additional support during this time.

Dr Kjersti has a special interest in caring for babies and children, with further training in supporting common concerns such as colic and reflux. She provides gentle, tailored care focused on supporting both baby and parents.

If your baby is unsettled and you’d like support, we invite you to book in for a chat.

Plagiocephaly is a condition where a baby’s head is flat on one side.

What causes plagiocephaly? Birth can place a significant strain on the baby’s head and neck. An underlying imbalance of the neck or cranial-dural system can create a head position preference while sleeping. Other causes are shortening of a muscle in the neck (torticollis) and low muscle tone.

Does the flattening of the head matter? Research has shown there may be an association between plagiocephaly and developmental delays (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2821472?utm_source=).

Dr Kjersi can assess your babies spine and cranial dural system for imbalances, postural asymmetry and restriction with turning the head. Treatment consist of gentle spinal and cranial adjustments (no manipulation) and gentle stretching techniques to improve movement and function. She can also give you advice on what to do at home to help.

Retained Neonatal Reflexes - commonly known as RNR - is a gentle, hands-on therapy designed to support the integration of retained primitive reflexes.

By encouraging the natural development and coordination of these reflexes, RNR can help improve the connection between the brain and body, supporting overall motor skills, learning, and developmental progress in children.

Dr. Kjersti is trained in this technique and can provide gentle, expert, compassionate guidance to help your child reach their full potential.
