An automated undershot gate assembly was supplied for the Sydney International Regatta Centre, replacing ageing manual infrastructure with a modern flood control solution designed for performance and safety.

This critical upgrade replaces an ageing, manually operated sluice gate that had reached the end of its serviceable life, addressing long-standing challenges in flood control, operational safety, and environmental protection.

At this new 'greenfield' site, a concealed passive flood barrier has been installed early in the construction phase; the ideal time for integration when permanent vertical installation below the high-traffic pedestrian walkway is required.

This community-based flood protection solution is 'passive' or self-activating. As water enters the drain at the front of the barrier, the barrier rises automatically using buoyancy principles, creating a watertight seal that protects the entrance from water ingress without the need for manual intervention or power.
