As we step into another year, I'd want to take a moment to reflect on the one just gone and say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of the AJM Support Work journey.

The past year was filled with growth, learning, connection and countless moments that reminded us why we do what we do. From supporting participants to achieve their goals, building strong and trusting relationships, welcoming new team members, and continuing to grow within our local community, it has been a year we are incredibly proud of.

To our current participants and families, thank you for trusting us to be part of your lives. Your journeys, progress and wins big and small are what drive us every day. We remain fully committed to providing reliable, respectful and person centred supports and being there for you as your needs evolve throughout the year ahead.

As always, AJM Support Work is also here for those who may be looking to add additional supports to their team or for anyone considering a change because their current supports are no longer the right fit. We understand how important it is to feel comfortable, heard and genuinely supported, and we believe everyone deserves a support team that aligns with their goals, values and lifestyle.

Whether you are continuing with us, looking to make a change, or simply exploring your options, we are always happy to have a chat and see how we can help.

Here is to a fresh year full of opportunity, growth and continued support. We look forward to what is ahead and to walking alongside our community every step of the way.

While reading the South Western Times today, you may notice my face featured in an article. I was honoured to be asked and included in the segment for International Day of People with Disability. It showcases Collie and our surrounding area with supports on offer in a respectful manner. I'm proud to admit that I, along with my small team, are making a positive impact within our community.

International Day of People with Disability

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and incredible contributions of people with disability within our community.

At AJM Support Work, we’re honoured to walk alongside our NDIS clients every day, supporting independence, confidence, and a life built around choice and dignity.
This day isn’t just about awareness, it’s about recognition, inclusion, and celebrating the unique value every person brings to the world.

As someone living with a disability myself, today is a powerful reminder of why I am so passionate about the work we do. Everyone deserves to feel supported, respected, and empowered in their journey.

To our clients, families, carers, and support workers, thank you for being part of the AJM Support Work community. Your courage, trust, and dedication inspire everything we do.

Let’s continue building a future where accessibility, understanding, and genuine inclusion are the everyday norm, not just today but always.

NDIS reform delays and funding pressure

The NDIS remains one of Australia’s most important social programs, but ongoing reform delays are putting pressure on the system’s budget. Reports suggest that without faster reform, the NDIS could face major financial strain in coming years.

For participants, that means it’s vital to stay engaged and informed. The more we understand the changes, the better we can advocate for quality supports that truly meet people’s needs.

At AJM Support Work, we’ll continue to keep you updated and ready for any upcoming adjustments, so you can plan ahead with confidence.

What’s happening behind the scenes in the disability sector

The NDIS 2025 Annual Price Review has left some providers facing challenges, with price freezes and funding cuts impacting sustainability for smaller services.

At AJM Support Work, we remain committed to keeping our services accessible and affordable, without compromising on the quality of care.

We believe every client deserves reliable, person-centred support, and we’ll continue to adapt so we can provide the best service possible, no matter what changes come our way.

Planning for the future: a new NDIS system is coming

The NDIS has announced that a brand-new planning framework will begin rolling out from mid-2026. This new system is designed to make the planning process simpler and more consistent, with clearer funding categories and stronger links to participant goals.

The goal is to make it easier to understand how your supports are funded and how budgets are set.

At AJM Support Work, we’ll continue to provide flexible, person-centred disability support, adapting as the NDIS evolves. You can count on us to stay informed and help you make sense of the changes, so you can keep focusing on what matters most: your goals and your wellbeing.

NDIS funding will now be released in smaller timeframes

From May 2025 onwards, many new and reassessed NDIS plans will move from annual lump-sum budgets to shorter funding periods, often every 3 months.

This doesn’t reduce your total funding; it simply changes when funds are released. The aim is to make it easier for participants to manage their supports over time and reduce the risk of funding running out too soon.

At AJM Support Work, we’re here to help participants track their budgets and use their funding effectively, making sure you get consistent, reliable support all year round.

WA introduces a new NDIS funding model

If you’re in Western Australia, you may start to notice a few changes in how the NDIS is managed. The state is now contributing a fixed annual amount to the Scheme, with the Commonwealth covering the rest of the funding.

This shift is designed to improve budgeting and accountability between governments — but it also means there are pricing adjustments for providers, including changes to travel and allied health rates.

For participants, your total plan funding and access to supports won’t be reduced, but it’s a good time to check your budget and make sure everything still aligns with your goals.

Our team at AJM Support Work can help you review your plan and understand what these updates mean for you locally here in Collie and the South West.

Thriving Kids Program for Children

👧 Big changes ahead for families with children on the NDIS

Starting July 2026, the NDIS will gradually move children with mild to moderate autism or developmental delay into a new program called Thriving Kids — part of the government’s new “foundational supports” system.

This means not every child will be eligible for, or remain in, the NDIS. Instead, families will access supports through other services aimed at early intervention and community-based care.

While these changes may feel uncertain, they are intended to ensure every child gets the right level of help for their needs — whether that’s through the NDIS or through foundational supports.

At AJM Support Work, we’ll keep families informed and supported every step of the way. If you’re unsure what this might mean for your child’s plan, we’re here to help guide you through the transition.
