This Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, we’re reminding women and people with a cervix aged 25–74 that one simple test every five years can save your life.

The Cervical Screening Test detects the human papillomavirus (HPV) to identify abnormal cervical cell changes before they can turn into cancer. Most HPV infections go away on their own, but when they don’t, cervical screening can catch changes when they’re easy to treat.

If you're overdue, now’s the time. Talk with your healthcare provider to arrange your Cervical Screening Test today. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/43kN5PL.

17 - 23 November 2025
Cervical Cancer Awareness Week
This year, the theme is ‘The Power of Choice’.

There are more ways to choose to prevent cervical cancer than ever before.
The simple and important message:

To protect yourself and prevent cervical cancer, there’s more choice than ever before:

🌸One (1) dose of the HPV vaccine free for all young people under 25 years, male and female, if you missed your chance at school age.
🌸Cervical screening tests every five (5) years for women and those with a cervix from age 25–74 years.
🌸Choose Your Screening Method There are choices:
🌷a. Have your doctor or nurse perform a cervical screening test.
🌷b. Self-Collection – talk to your doctor or nurse about choosing to collect your sample yourself.

Stomach cancer can be difficult to detect early, but we all share a common goal: protecting those we love. Recognising the symptoms can be life-saving, and that starts with knowing what to look out for.

🔎 Stay vigilant - know the signs:
- A painful or burning sensation in the abdomen
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Loss of appetite and/or weight loss
- Swelling of the abdomen
- Unexplained tiredness or weakness
- Blood in vomit
- Black-coloured faeces

If you or someone you care about is experiencing any of the above, it’s important to seek medical advice. The sooner it is detected, the better the chance of treatment and recovery.

There have been 54 cases of measles identified in WA in 2025 year to date.

Measles typically develops around 10 days after being exposed to the virus, but this can vary from 7 to 18 days.

Measles is highly infectious and can spread via airborne droplets to people close by (e.g. in waiting rooms). Droplets in the air may still infect people entering a room up to 30 minutes after an infected person has left it.

If someone not already immune to measles visited an exposure location during the specified dates and times below, they are advised to monitor for symptoms between 7 to 18 days after the visit. Persons who have received two measles vaccinations and those born before 1966 are considered immune to measles, on rare occasions, vaccinated individuals may develop a mild illness.

There is no ongoing risk of measles at these locations.

Measles typically develops around 10 days after being exposed to the virus, but this can vary from 7 to 18 days.
