Choose To Change

Choose To Change Adam is a Health Coach & EFT Practitioner. Available in Melbourne, Australia as well as Skype.

It’s easy when you’re meditating and have everything perfect around you, but its real progress when you go out into the world and encounter the barriers and challenges life has set for you. Because you are forced into places with apparently no way forward, your only remaining option is to look deep within your soul and activate the solutions that otherwise lie dormant within you. Adam guides people through the process of change and transformation by clearing the fears, emotion and resistance keeping them stuck. He assists people with conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, anxiety, mood swings and eczema. He can also help clear phobias, fears of success (resulting in self-sabotage) and clearing past traumatic experiences such as hospital trauma, abuse, grief and loss.

"There is a paradox at the heart of human unfolding: We can only love others to the degree that we are capable of loving ourselves. But, on the other hand, we are not born loving ourselves. We develop self-love by internalizing the love of all those who have loved us. As infants, we do not make our own food; neither do we make our own love."

This free academic paper, titled ‘The Covid-19 Pandemic is a Paradoxical Challenge to our Nervous System – A Polyvagal Perspective’, is written by Stephen W. Porges.

Stephen Porges is widely known for the Polyvagal Theory, a theory that links the evolution of the mammalian autonomic nervous system to social behavior and emphasizes the importance of physiological state in the expression of behavioral problems and psychiatric disorders.

This paper evaluates the effects of the COVID-19 virus on our biological threat system and in turn our autonomic nervous system, from the context of the Polyvagal Theory.

This paper assesses:
-How the Polyvagal Theory provides a perspective to understand the impact of the pandemic on mental and physical health.
-How this perspective highlights the important role of the state of the autonomic nervous system in exacerbating or dampening threat reactions to the pandemic.
-How the theory alerts us to the impact of clinical history (e.g. trauma) on autonomic regulation and compounds the risk factors of becoming destabilised both behaviorally and physiologically during the pandemic.
-How the theory provides a strategy to dampen the adverse reactions to threat (e.g. acute stress disorders) through portals of social engagement that evolved to downregulate defenses to promote calmness and connectedness.
