It’s National Diabetes Week 🦶

Did you know Diabetes impacts your blood vessels and nerves throughout your body? The vessels and nerves in your feet have travelled the furthest, so they can be the first to show signs of damage. And if you have reduced blood flow and damaged nerves in your feet? This slows down healing, reduces your ability to cope with daily activity and increases your risk of infections and ulcers (wounds that don’t heal).

Podiatrists play a key role in early detection and prevention. In fact, it is recommended that everyone with diabetes has their feet checked for signs of complications at least every year.

📅 Don’t wait. Schedule an appointment with one of our podiatrists!

Chronic ankle instability and pain? It could be more than just a few minor sprains. 💥

When your ankle ligaments get repeatedly injured or stressed without proper rehab, it can lead to chronic ankle instability.

Ankle instability can be treated. Working alongside your podiatrist, you can identify what is contributing to your injuries, understand what can be done to help, and reduce the likelihood of more ankle sprains!

With each step you take the body transfers forces from your feet up your legs into your hips and back… and that’s a good thing!

These forces help keep muscles strong and bones dense. 💪

But too much time on your feet? That can lead to pain and discomfort.

Balance is key. Listen to your body. 👂

Removing the callus and cracks can be done safely and effectively by your podiatrist. 🧑‍⚕️🦶

Your podiatrist will carefully debride the hard skin by hand, using their expertise to remove the ‘problem’ excess skin, but leaving the right amount of natural protection. A burr is then used to smooth the skin, getting rid of any uneven ridges.
