What’s it take to build a sauna like this? 😮🔥

SDS Australia’s client Geoff Rinaldi took on one of the most incredible DIY sauna projects we’ve seen.

Complex and demanding, Geoff’s breathtaking ‘Sauna Egg’ was inspired by a sauna sculpture created a few years earlier by Swedish artists Bigert & Bergström.

After consulting with our team, Geoff selected SDS Australia’s architectural grade European Thermo Aspen for the project at his Bowral home. 🪵

Thermally modified using only heat and steam, the timber’s exceptional stability and durability allowed Geoff to meticulously shape it into the 69 individual panels that form the sauna’s internal structure.

Two years on, Geoff’s ‘Sauna Egg’ still looks as remarkable as ever, with the Thermo Aspen continuing to perform exactly as it was designed to.

After consulting with our team, Geoff purchased SDS Australia’s architecture-grade European Thermo Aspen timber. He then meticulously crafted the timber into an array of unique panels, resulting in this special sauna.
