Today on International Women’s Day
I want to honour the Mother.

One of the offerings I share with women
is my own adapted version
of a Closing of the Bones ceremony. 🌹♥️✨🌿

Across many cultures, this ceremony honours the profound transformation of pregnancy and birth. It is a time where a woman is gently held, rocked, wrapped, touched and supported as her body and spirit integrate the journey of childbirth.

For me, this ceremony is about acknowledgement.
Acknowledging the mother.
Her strength.
Her opening.
Her becoming.

A time to be held.
Wrapped in cloth.
Warmed with oils.
Holding sacred space.

A moment for a woman to acknowledge her childbirth journey, and to be held and honoured by another woman
after the great opening of birth. 🌹♥️

This way of working has been shaped by my own experiences of being held as a woman through my childbearing years and honouring my cycles, and sacred womanhood and as a midwife serving women over many years. 🌹♥️🌹🌿💫

Today I would love to gift this ceremony
to a postpartum woman on the Sunshine Coast or in Gympie.

Ode to the Placenta. ♥️I have always been fascinated by the placenta. An incredible, temporary organ that quietly sustains a baby’s every moment in the womb. 🌿

When I am exploring the placenta, I marvel at nature’s perfect design.
The placenta is part of the baby’s first home. Every fold tells a story of nourishment and growth.
The tree of life, in living form.
Learning from what the body created so instinctively.

The placenta is the quiet keeper of life, completing its work in its own time.
From skin-to-skin bonding, to gentle cord cutting, to exploration and reflection - every moment matters.

What do you intend to do to honour your placenta? Some plant it beneath a tree, some create keepsakes - such as placenta prints, some choose encapsulation or Lotus Birth - however it’s celebrated, it deserves presence, awe, and curiosity. 🌸

These images hold a moment of deep self nourishment. ♥️🌹🕊️♥️
A time where I am invited to be with all of myself.

I tend to myself.
I give attention to myself.
To see what is emerging, and needing to be seen. I Unravell. I Unfold.
Self devotion and deep connection!!

Jess and Stephy are so intentional and true in their work.

They held me with such care and presence, creating a space where I could soften, rest, and listen.
I experienced joy, grief, and discomfort.
I let go, and I held on.
Inhaling, and exhaling.
Release and Expansion!!

I felt so deeply held. ♥️🌹🕊️🪷

From that holding, something whole emerged.
A fullness.
A boundless capacity to serve.

This kind of tending is not separate from my work.
It is woven through it. ♥️🪡 ✨🪷

As I walk alongside women and families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season, I am continually reminded that coming back to myself is an essential everyday practice.

When women gather and hold one another with presence and care, something ancient stirs.
Connection deepens.
Care becomes embodied.
Wisdom is shared quietly, without needing to be taught.

This is how I choose to serve my community, from a place that is lived, felt, and continually returned to.
Embodied. True. Genuine.

When lived experience and mentoring philosophy align, the work carries integrity.
It resonates because it is embodied.

I share this not as something I do from time to time, but as a way of being, one that sustains me as I serve women and families.

That too, is mentoring.
