Spring & TCM
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the change of seasons is considered an important time for our health.
Each season is linked to an organ system, an element, and a type of energy in the body. Spring relates to the Liver and Gallbladder, the Wood element, and the movement of Qi that encourages growth, renewal, and expansion.
During winter, the body naturally turns inward and conserves energy. As spring arrives, this stored energy begins to rise and move outward, just like plants sprouting after the cold months.
When this transition happens smoothly, we feel refreshed and energized. But if the Liver Qi becomes stagnant, or if latent heat or cold from the winter months surfaces, it can lead to symptoms such as irritability, headaches, allergies, fatigue, or muscle tension.
Acupuncture aims to support the body during these seasonal transitions. Treatment can help regulate the flow of Liver Qi, release latent heat or cold, and restore balance so the body adjusts more easily to spring’s energetic changes. By working in harmony with the seasons, TCM encourages not only physical health but also emotional and mental well-being.
Spring is an ideal time to support renewal within your body and align with nature’s cycle of growth.
