Aloha!
My name is Sandy Hain I specialise in Lomilomi, a healing tradition native to the Hawaiian Archipelago, my teacher Kumu Pa’a Kawika Foster is a 51st generation practitioner of Hawaiian Culture and Tradition from the island of Molokai. Lomilomi is an intuitive skill, so no two will be the same. This work of massage is not about technique it is all about touch, it imparts caring, support and nurturing. Massage is about giving love through the skilled act of touch. The heart of Lomilomi is love and respect for others. Lomilomi is one of the most profound forms of massage.
“What makes Lomilomi unique is the intention to give Aloha or unconditional love, this intention comes through in the quality of touch. Lomilomi is a loving touch, getting the body to relax so there’ll be no stress. Its Love! If your hands are gentle and loving, your patient will feel the sincerity of your heart.” (Auntie Margaret Machado)
The massage is given in fluid, rhythmic motion using the forearms as well as the hands. Some people have described this as feeling like gentle waves moving over the body. The aim is to treat the body and mind as one whole being. Emphasizing a mind-body connection, lomilomi massage treatments affect the recipient on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. The long, continuous strokes of the massage are designed to help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviours, which can cause many stresses and strains as muscle tension. It is my loving intent to create a restful place for physical and spiritual renewal and re-connection to what makes the heart sing.
Aloha, more than a simple greeting, to the Hawaiians it is so much more, it also includes tolerance, forgiveness, acceptance, non judgment, appreciation, compassion, respect and so many other elements - this is the very foundation of a Lomi Lomi massage.
