Our community has many members that have been touched by su***de. Talking about su***de and its effects helps our community understand that su***de is often the result of an individual feeling unbearable emotional pain and not being able to ask or receive help with what they experiencing.
We can all help by being kind, listening without judgement, reaching out to our family, friends, and acquaintances and assuring them that we are here and will help without it being burdensome. We are all in this life together and every life is precious.
Today is ***dePreventionDay which is a time to raise awareness and encourage open conversations to prevent su***des.
More than 1 in 3 Australians have been close to someone who took or attempted to take their own life.
Collecting data on mental health is important for su***de prevention. It can assist in many ways, like making informed decisions, identifying at-risk groups, and monitoring trends.
If you, or someone you know is experiencing distress, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or lifeline.org.au or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.

Hi - Day 1 of our crowdfunding campaign and we are just over 10% of the way to our first goal. We would have liked to have had a better first day, but recent events have meant time and attention was elsewhere for a good chunk of our lead up to launch. That's OK, that's why we are here, to help people come together in sad times, and happy.
So how can YOU help us? Well, you can make a pledge that has a reward, or pledge just cash. That would be awesome. You can also share this post on your feed so your friends and family can also help. Some people need to see something multiple times before they decide to join in, so let's keep the campaign in their minds so when they are ready, they remember to chip in. Make it your good deed for the day ;)
Click through on the link and make your pledge right now (please!)
Super sneak peek at one of the rewards in our upcoming crowdfunding campaign to raise money for storage. You asked and we made - car cling stickers, fridge magnets, keyrings, and more! Look out for announcements in the next couple of weeks.

The greatest numbers of people saved from su***de are from community effort and not medical facilities.
We look to provide safe, non-judgemental spaces and times where people can talk with each-other, listen to each-other, and connect with each-other to build community compassion and empathy - proven steps in minimising the need for crisis intervention.
We want to be able to help every member of our community be confident in having an understanding on how to help someone, or themselves, if they find they are struggling with suicidal thoughts. We will ensure that we create and distribute information to our community on who to contact, and what to say, in times of need.
We will also help the community embrace using language that shows an understanding that su***de and suicidal thoughts are no longer seen as a failure of character, but a response to unbearable pressures that anyone can succumb to, at any time. By building a caring, loving , community we can keep every truly valued member of the Coonabarabran community close and safe.
