It is with mixed emotions we share the news that we will be handing over Castlereagh Funerals in early March to Alex and Braden.
For eleven years we have had the privilege to serve the communities of Coonabarabran, Baradine, Binnaway and Gwabegar. To walk beside families in their darkest moments, to hold space for grief, love and remembrance and to care for your loved ones as if they were our own.
A funeral business is unlike any other. While it is an honour beyond words, it also carries deep emotional weight and heartache.
This work changes you and stepping away comes with a mix of gratitude and sadness but we are also excited to open the page on our next chapter of life.
To every family who trusted us and allowed us into their lives during their most difficult times, thank you.
During times of loss, the love and support our communities have shown, coming together and helping each other is what we have witnessed time and time again.
Castlereagh Funerals, the people we have worked with, those who have helped us and the families we have served will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We are deeply grateful for the kindness, support and faith our communities have shown us over the years, both professionally and personally. It will never be forgotten.

Peter John Davis passed away peacefully on 14 January 2026, surrounded by loving family, in the comfort of his own home.

He was the beloved grandson of Boysie and Nan Harper, son of Elaine and Mac Davis, and brother to Gerard, Paul, Mandy and Margaret. He was a devoted husband to Linda, a deeply loved father to Aimee, Ben and Peita, and an adored Poppy to Billy, Darcy, Amelia and Charlie.

Peter lived with strength, kindness and gentleness. For over 40 years, he faced Parkinson’s disease with courage, never complaining and always finding ways to live life fully. His love for Coonabarabran and the friendships he formed there never faded and brought great comfort to him, and to us, in his final weeks.

Peter’s warm smile and beautiful nature will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and generosity that will stay with us always. Enjoy your next life, back to enjoying sport and all the things you could not in your final years. Until we meet again. With love.

Linda Davis and family warmly invite friends and loved ones of Peter to join them at the Golf Club on 28 February at 1.30 pm to gather and share memories of his life. We hope you can join us.
