Tolerance and Patience are keys to creating a united PAD family.
PAD strives to provide Advice, Support, Mentoring and Assistance as an Association supporting Registered Self Training Handlers in a family environment.
PAD will provide advice regarding the suitability of a dog to the Handler’s needs but does not supply or pre-train dogs. PAD assists Handlers to achieve these goals for themselves.
PAD provides a community, and mentorship, to support Handlers: -
• via regular local meetups (subject to Handler location) and
• online through its website, as well as
• social media platforms such as the PAD Facebook Closed Support Group.
Some guidelines: -
1. PAD provides support to Affiliate Handlers accessing their own dog and with any prior approvals necessary for Residential, Education or Work environments. This is done by becoming an Affiliate until there is a dog to be assessed as part of the Handler Team. There is a Fee involved in becoming an Affiliate equal to half of the current Registration Fee. It is non-refundable if the Handler chooses not to proceed for any reason other than exceptional circumstances. PAD’s time in assisting Affiliate Handlers is valuable and time consuming. You are required to complete the Application process to become an Affiliate Handler.
2. FEES: Registration Fees are payable once the Executive Committee has confirmed acceptance of your application. The Application can only proceed once all documentation has been received and an interview and assessment have been concluded. As stated an Administration Fee applies to the Affliate application, which is applied to the Registration Fee provided you proceed with the application.
A Special Circumstances Exemption may apply at the discretion of the Executive Committee, as to what portion of the Affiliate Fee may be refunded, or not.
From July 2024 until further notice, the REGISTRATION FEES ARE $1000, from January 2025 until further notice, the ANNUAL FEE is $750. Becoming a PAD Registered Handler is a process. Inquiring or Applying does not guarantee acceptance as there are criteria relating to both Handler and Dog.
3. The Application Process includes
1. Via the INQUIRY FORM the inquirer must provide basic details of phone, email, location, need for the Assistance Dog, and if your current dog is a rescue, how old it is, and at what age it came into your care.
2. There will be a Personal contact/interview over the phone and/ or in person, or by the use of social media platforms.
