This is what we live for. 🎶

Watching our music therapist bring joy, connection, and smiles to residents is a reminder of why we do what we do. These moments matter — and we're proud to bring them directly to aged care facilities across the region.

We have in clinic appointments available or our Therapy 2 You delivers on-site music therapy (and so much more) so residents get the care they deserve, right where they are.

📩 If you'd like to bring this to your facility, are interested in music therapy for you, your child, or NDIS participants, we'd love to chat — send us a DM or get in touch via the link in our bio.

🎵 Continuing our celebration of Music Therapy Week – today we shine the spotlight on Paediatrics!

Music therapists often work with children from varying groups, and what a privilege it is to be a part of the early intervention team! A widely recognised therapeutic intervention within hospitals and the NDIS.

For so many children, music becomes the key that unlocks expression, connection, and growth – often when words are difficult or not yet possible.

Here are just a few of the incredible ways music therapy supports our youngest patients:

In the NICU
Music helps stabilise heart rates and oxygen levels, promoting calm and supporting healthy development during those critical early days.

In the PICU
It provides powerful procedural support, helps manage pain and anxiety, promotes relaxation, and gives children a safe way to express and process their emotions.

Broader benefits across paediatrics include:

- Building self-regulation, social skills, and emotional expression
-Supporting expressive and receptive communication
-Improving coordination and fine/gross motor skills through joyful, active participation
- Enhancing overall quality of life through family-centred care, connection, and play

If you or someone you know has experienced music therapy, we’d love to hear your story in the comments 💛

🎵 Music therapy is changing lives in disability care — and we've seen it firsthand since 2020.

Music therapy isn't just for aged care — and this World Music Therapy Week, we wanted to shine a light on another group who benefit enormously from it: people living with disability, including NDIS participants.

Since we began offering music therapy in 2020 under Lake Macquarie Music Therapy, some of the most profound moments we've witnessed have been with this community.

For people living with disability, music therapy can:

🎵 Support communication and language development
🎵 Improve emotional regulation and self-expression
🎵 Build social skills and connection
🎵 Reduce anxiety and sensory overwhelm
🎵 Support motor skills through rhythm and movement
🎵 Provide a safe, joyful space for engagement and growth

Music meets people exactly where they are. No barriers, no pressure — just connection.

Our music therapy services are available to NDIS participants, and we'd love to chat if you'd like to know more about how it could support you or someone you care for.

Music therapy in aged care 🎵

Music therapy is a powerful, non-pharmacological tool in aged care, bringing a variety of cognitive, social and physical benefits to seniors—especially those living with dementia or isolation.

It can stimulate memory recall through familiar songs, reduces anxiety, agitation, and depression, while boosting mood, cognitive function, and social interaction.

Whether through singing, listening, or gentle movement to music, it enhances their quality of life. A heartfelt way to nurture the mind, body, and spirit in our elderly loved ones. 🎶❤️

Here is an in-session moment with one of our music therapists, Tayla at a recent Meals on Wheels group in Morisset where she facilitates social interactions, language, memory recall, reminisce, physical and cognitive challenges.

🎵 It's World Music Therapy Week! (10–15 April)

At Watagan Health Hub, music therapy is something we believe in deeply — and something we're proud to bring directly to the people who benefit from it most.

This week we're celebrating the incredible impact that music has on health and wellbeing, and shining a light on the meaningful work our music therapists do every single day. 🎶

Stay tuned this week as we share a little more about what music therapy looks like in practice — and why it matters so much.

🚧 Exciting Things Are Happening at Watagan Health Hub! 🚧

Renovations are officially well underway, and we’re transforming our space into something truly special for our community.

Meet Ashleigh – our newest Registered Music Therapist at Watagan Health Hub 🎶

We’re excited to welcome Ashleigh to the team!

Having recently relocated from Melbourne to the sunny Newcastle region, Ashleigh brings a wealth of experience across the lifespan, with a strong background in mental health, disability, neurodiversity, and aged care.

Ashleigh is passionate about blending creativity with clinical care, using music as a powerful tool to support communication, emotional expression, and overall wellbeing. She is continually inspired by how music can open doors — whether it’s helping someone communicate for the first time, process emotions, or simply feel seen and understood.

No two days are ever the same in music therapy, and that’s exactly what Ashleigh loves about it.

Ashleigh is available Monday to Friday for both mobile and in-house music therapy appointments.

👉 To book, visit our website or get in touch with our team.

Welcome to Watagan Health Hub, Ashleigh — we’re so glad to have you on board!

We had the privilege of visiting Hamlyn Terrace Aged Care Facility with our Mobile Dental Service to provide urgent care for a resident in need.

Although the facility has a dental provider, the treatment required couldn’t be delivered — and that’s when Watagan Dental was called in to help. This is exactly why our mobile service exists: to ensure no one goes without essential dental care simply because access is limited.

Just 12 months ago, we didn’t fully realise how significant the gap in dental access was for our elderly community. Today, we’re humbled to be supporting patients who otherwise may not receive the care they need.

We are incredibly grateful for the trust placed in us and proud to be extending our services beyond the walls of our practice — delivering compassionate, professional care wherever it’s needed most.

If your facility or loved one requires mobile dental support, please reach out to our team.

Meet Dr. Zach – our newest smile superhero at Watataga Dental! 🌟

Coming from a dental family (his dad is a skilled lab tech who's been crafting beautiful smiles behind the scenes for years), Dr. Zach grew up surrounded by the world of dentistry and developed a true passion for helping people feel confident and comfortable with their smiles.

His very first day with us was NON-STOP – packed with appointments, new faces, and lots of care – but even after a busy schedule, he still had that huge, genuine grin at the end of the day. That's just who he is!

Dr. Zach cares passionately about providing gentle, personalized dental care that makes every patient feel at ease and leaves them smiling brighter. Whether it's routine check-ups, cosmetic enhancements, or helping you achieve your dream smile, he's here with enthusiasm, skill, and a big heart.
Welcome aboard, Dr. Zach – we're so lucky to have you! 💙
