Sunshine Butterflies is a disability support service and charity located on the Sunshine Coast. Sunshine Butterflies strives to improve the lives of those with disability and their families. Sunshine Butterflies provides a unique range of educational and recreational disability support services, programs and activities. Our uniquely flexible and respectful culture that supports our individuals and their families with disability is what sets us apart.

'Our Backyard’, home of Sunshine Butterflies, is a 15-acre learning, respite, education and recreational facility in the Noosa countryside that provides life skills, plus recreational and learning opportunities to people with disability. Located in the beautiful Noosa Countryside at 468 McKinnon Drive Cooroibah, ‘Our Backyard’ is just 5 minutes from Tewantin/Noosa, bringing everyone together in one accessible place to access all of our programs, activities, supports and services. Sunshine Butterflies was founded in 2010 by Leanne Walsh, who made it her mission to reduce the stigma of disability within her community and she now leads a dedicated team to help make this dream a reality. Sunshine Butterflies vision is for individuals with disability and their families have the support they need to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Thank You Harcourts Community! 💜

We are so grateful to the Harcourts Community team who recently visited Our Backyard and generously selected Sunshine Butterflies through their Harcourts Community Connections Program.

Through this wonderful initiative, Harcourts donates $500 from every property sale to a local charity or organisation chosen by the seller. Thanks to Tracey & Geoff Bradfield, Sunshine Butterflies will receive this generous donation to help us purchase much-needed supplies for our Chippies Corner program.

This support means so much and helps us continue creating opportunities for individuals with disability here on the Sunshine Coast.

Neigh It Forward!🐴💜

This year for our Walk In Wings event, we will be raising funds to help keep our furry and feathered friends happy, healthy and safe, providing them with food, shelter, vet care and enrichment.

From our cheeky goats and cute and cuddly miniature horses, to our ducks, chickens, sheep, peacock and even our donkey, each animal plays a very special role here at Sunshine Butterflies.
In our Farmability animal care program, our animals provide companionship, teach new skills, and bring so much happiness to our members with disability.

Caring for our furry and feathered friends comes with ongoing costs, from food, straw and shelter to vet care and enrichment. By supporting our ‘Neigh It Forward’ Fundraiser you will be helping us provide the very best care for them, so they can continue to bring joy, confidence and connection to our members with disability and the community.

We are hoping to raise $20,000, which will cover the cost of our animals for 12 months.

If you register for Walk In Wings as a TEAM a percentage of your registration will automatically go towards our fundraiser! You can also choose to donate to this fundraiser when purchasing a standard ticket.

Happy Father’s Day.

Today we celebrate all the Dads, Step-Dads, Grandads, Foster Dads, Should-be Dads, Not-yet Dads, Father figures, and mentors who guide, support and love us in so many ways.

This day is all about YOU! Thank you for the laughs, the life lessons, the unconditional love, and for simply being there.

We also hold space today for those who may find Father’s Day difficult, for those missing a parent, guardian, child, or loved one, or navigating a complex relationship. You are in our hearts, and we send you extra love and care today.

Tuesday mornings are extra special at Sunshine Butterflies when our 'Rockability' and 'Farmability' programs come together for a stroll through the farm.
Our members love exploring the accessible pathways, saying hello to our much-loved farm animals, and learning about the natural environment along the way. It’s the perfect way to start the day!

From a gentle pat with our beautiful horse Indi, to a cheeky nuzzle from Jimmy the donkey, or a bleat from our friendly sheep, these moments bring so much joy and connection.

You have probably spotted this incredible team at our events. They are always getting involved, dressing up, and bringing plenty of energy and smiles. We are so proud to partner with such a community-minded business.

Recently, Team Body Corporate took on the Garden to Plate Challenge at 'Our Backyard'! Their mission? To create an entrée, main, and dessert using fresh produce from our gardens, farm-sourced meat or poultry, and a curated Pantry List. With plenty of laughs, creativity, and teamwork, they crafted some amazing dishes and wowed our judging panel.
