Understanding Dis-ease From Another Perspective

"Disease is not something to be feared, but rather understood as a natural adaptation to negative stress. Many people think that the flu season, for example, is like a game of roulette—that it’s a matter of chance whether or not we “catch the bug.”

But this is a narrow view that takes only one piece of an intricately balanced picture into consideration, namely microorganisms.

Our cultural hyper-focus on “pathogens” in the environment has resulted in a fearful victim mentality, and it’s now preventing people from taking greater control of their health..."

From Persecuted to Essential

“While many may not think of it in these terms, chiropractic’s growth has been a grassroots movement since the beginning. Healthcare freedom has been in the chiropractic DNA since its inception and still is today.”

Chiropractic has a fascinating history - many are unaware that chiropractic was persecuted heavily before achieving separate licensing laws.

Thomas Edison, concerned about the healthcare of his time, stated: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” This light bulb of an idea burns as brightly today in the hearts and minds of chiropractors and other healers as it did then.

"Instead of looking at ADHD as a condition that must be treated, chiropractors look at ADHD as evidence that the nervous system of the child is in a state of dysfunction and needs to be improved. With this approach, the goal is to improve neurological function from the inside out, instead of temporarily manipulating symptoms from the outside in.

Chiropractic specifically seeks to reduce neurological interference from vertebral subluxation, a phenomenon commonly seen in children where abnormal motion of the spine is associated with impaired neurological function. While not a treatment for ADHD, correction of vertebral subluxation through chiropractic adjustments has been shown to result in improved nervous system function and improvement in ADHD symptoms."

“Meditation and exercise” - Let’s help reduce some of the stress in our lives!

One option to try would be meditation.

Before you dismiss the idea out of hand, meditation doesn’t always mean crossed legs on a mat, fingers posed and creating am 'Ommm' sound. Meditation can be performed in many different ways and can be tailored to suit you.

🧘‍♀️You can meditate in nature - you'll need to focus on observing your surroundings: the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural environment. Nature-based meditation is all about using nature as an anchor to slow the mind and connect. Get started by sitting or lying down. Then, start to take notice of your surroundings.

🚶‍♂️ Or you can practice "contemplation" - meditation done in the form of active contemplation throughout your day! Just hold your focus on one feeling or sensation within your body until it dissipates.

🧍 Or even simpler, just taking a moment to be quiet and present in an environment that is calm and still, can ease your thoughts and create focus.

The benefits of taking time to reflect and breath and endless, just taking 10-20 minutes a day is sufficient to create better focus and productivity!

🏃‍♀️ If meditation isn’t for you, maybe some exercise would be more suitable?

Going for a daily walk or if you have a gym membership, getting your blood pumping, filling your lungs with oxygen, and having that time to zone out is also massively beneficial to our mental health - combining exercise with nature, particularly if you can do it barefoot - e.g. a walk on the beach - offers the added benefits of 'grounding'.

We can always find an option that’s most suitable to our needs and our lifestyles, we just need to start somewhere.

Laughter appears to be almost as beneficial as a workout in boosting the health of blood vessels, a study suggests.

“Thirty minutes of exercise three times a week and 15 minutes of hearty laughter each day should be part of a healthy lifestyle,” says Michael Miller of the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, US, whose team has shown that laughter relaxes arteries and boosts blood flow.

So pop on a comedy movie or hangout with that funny friend - for your health! 😂

If you've ever wondered about the foundations of Chiropractic philosophy, read on..."The Truth About Chiropractic: A Closer Look At A Misunderstood Philosophy"

"A great philosopher named Hippocrates once stated, “We are either growing or dying.”
Not to be outdone, Confucius stated, “Our lives are like that of an egg, we are either growing or decaying.”

Every day, our environment bombards us with chemical, physical and mental stressors. It is the job of our nerve system to detect these stressors, interpret them, and either adapt to them and continue our growth, or shrink from them and stop growing while in a survival or protective mode.

As the philosophers said, we are both growing and dying each day—but one process will predominate over the other. One is an upward spiral of growth, leading to fulfillment and ease; the other is a downward spiral of decay, leading to death.

Chiropractors have long understood that our bodies have an inborn intelligence, often called innate intelligence. This intelligence runs, regulates, heals and grows the body to its fullest potential.

Ill health, disease and lack of potential arise only from a lack of expression of this intelligence.

Chiropractic doesn't look to cure disease, address disease or diagnose disease. It understands disease for what it truly is—a lack state, one that arises only in the absence of the fullest expression of life.

As a chiropractor, the only conclusion that I can make with any degree of certainty is that your body is better off with a clear nerve system than one with interference. Chiropractors are the only practitioners with the philosophy and the technique to find that interference—called subluxation—and to assist in correcting it.

Allopathic practitioners (i.e. mainstream medical doctors) usually regard us as “not whole,” and needing something outside ourselves to heal or grow. They assume that it takes an outside intelligence to look at us and tell us what we need, be it ultrasound, electrical stimulation, pharmaceuticals, supplements or something else.

We need to go back to our original thought process and ask: If a practitioner directs the energy where he thinks it needs to go, how does that honor an individual’s innate intelligence? Doesn’t innate intelligence know what is needed where, and how much? How does applying ultrasound to the mid-back honor that process?

In our society, sitting for five minutes in a drive-through can seem like an eternity. Commercials bombard us five to seven times in three minutes, and we can see problems get resolved in three eight-minute segments on TV. It can be challenging to shift our consciousness from that fast-paced lifestyle to comprehend that all of life, including healing, is a process, and that being under care is also a lifetime process..."
