Dear Patients,

For more than 15 years we have been a completely bulk-billing practice. Over time (as can be seen in the picture below) successive governments have frozen the medicare rebate or given annual increases that have been far below the inflation levels. The costs of operating a medical practice have increased substantially over the past couple of years in particular, and we have always absorbed these rising costs in an attempt to keep bulk-billing all patients.

We are pleased to confirm that we will continue to bulk-bill of our current patients during the weekday hours, however need to make a couple of changes from July 1 for new patients and on Saturdays and Public Holidays:

1. All NEW patients will pay for their first consultation after the 1st of July, 2022. We will then bulk-bill for all subsequent visits during weekdays.

2. On Saturdays and Public Holidays we will privately bill all patients (except for Pensioners and children under 16).

Please feel free to contact your local MP or Health Minister to encourage them to lobby for increases to Medicare rebates.

We are pleased to welcome Dr Prem Kumar, General Surgeon, to Corrimal Healthcare Centre. Dr Kumar can perform all surgeries but also has a special interest in skin cancer surgery, hernias and colonoscopies. He will bulk bill all consultations and skin cancer surgeries onsite with a GP referral.

The 2022 Flu Vaccine is Now Available!!!

As is the case each year, the flu vaccine is free for anyone aged 65+, children under 5, pregnant women, and patients with certain chronic diseases. All other patients simply get a script from one of our doctors and can purchase at our pharmacy.

Masks will remain compulsory within the medical centre for everyone aged 12 and above. This is necessary for the safety of all of our patients, our staff and our doctors.

If you hold a valid mask exemption (which you can show at your visit), we also require a Negative PCR Result within the past 72 hours to see a doctor for a face-to-face appointment.

We thank all of our patients for your continued co-operation throughout the pandemic.

Children's vaccines (ages 5 to 11) will be available from January 10. We will post a message on our page January 5 with further information and SMS parents of all our current patients in this age group as soon as we open appointments. We are just waiting for the government to confirm the number of vaccines we will be receiving.
