🚨 Urgent Appeal for Hay 🚨

One of the hardest things we face here is securing enough hay to feed the animals we care for, and this year, it’s been more difficult than ever. 🌾

Due to the drought in Victoria and hay only coming from Queensland, we're facing a crisis. Round bales are smaller, prices have skyrocketed - 3 to 4 times the normal cost - and most don’t even include delivery fees. Smaller square bales are also harder to come by, more expensive, and often of lower quality. On top of that, customers are limited on how many they can purchase.

We are down to our last 6 round bales. We’re desperate for your support. The feed crisis has forced us to turn away so many animals this winter, taking in only a very small number of desperate cases and put large animal rescues on hold.

There is often an expectation on rescues to assist every animal directed our way, but the reality is, we rely entirely on the generosity of the community and public to keep going. Farm animals often arrive in the most dire conditions - sometimes the most neglected of all - and yet, farm animal rescues receive no government or grant assistance.

But we don’t give up. With your help, we can keep going. Even small donations will add up and help us keep the animals fed and cared for 💚

We’re ready for a busy few months with bookings from Byron Hinterland to Victoria & in between

We're Tony and Donna, a semi retired married couple travelling Australia, primarily the east coast with our small, very friendly and well mannered, 3 year old Border Collie, Betty.

We are self sufficient travellers, enjoying a very lucky life on the road in our camper.

Prior to choosing to travel we were successfully employed, Tony with a lifetime of experience in commercial, civil and domestic construction and building and Donna, a lifelong hospitality professional - chef, management and self employed small business owner.

We now work casually in various roles in some wonderful towns across our beautiful country.
We have a fabulous, large, grown family and some super cute grandkids in and around Victoria and regularly travel north and south between Queensland, NSW, SA, TAS, NT and Victoria.

We have spent the past 2 years working whilst travelling and also happily and readily doing property, pet and farm sitting in some beautiful homes and properties. We’ve also acted as caretakers for motels and cafes/ food & beverage business’.

We're experienced with, and love animals having had our own small menagerie of goats, sheep, chooks, dogs, cats, rabbits, budgies and many more prior to becoming nomadic.

Apart from Tony's extensive construction background he's also accomplished on tractors and small farm machinery, Donna swaps her knives for whipper snippers and ride on mowers and we're both more than happy with a chain saw or clippers in our hands. We love the outdoors and enjoy gardening and of course camping.

Our camper is our home, however we do require access to 240 power and water hook up and shower and laundry facilities when we are property sitting and if the location or season is particularly cold, hot or wet, we do appreciate use of a room/space if available. Internet access is a bonus if its available!

House sits are by negotiation, however we would prefer to stay in or adjacent to the house, especially if there’s inside pets, plants to care for and domestic gardens to tend to. We're happy to potter around gardens, mow lawns, water plants, maintain pools, pumps, fencing, do minor clean ups and of course feed and tend and most importantly care for any and all animals entrusted to us while their family is away.

We are more than happy to provide references, those most recent are below and all are happy to speak on our behalf if you're contemplating using us for your sit. Tony is also happy to discuss maintenance jobs if you have any, especially if your sit is for an extended period of time. We offer our service as an exchange, there is no cost however we do ask all necessities for the upkeep of your property be provided for. As each property and situation is different we’d prefer to discuss via FaceTime or google meet your requirements and expectations prior.

We've both held management positions and owned business' over our lifetimes and very much understand the need to get away and have a stress free holiday or break.

Short or long sits are not a problem, we do ask that we have a relatively set timeframe for the sit and are provided with all the necessary feed required for your animals.

We can provide a pictorial history of who we are, including copies of our respective drivers licences and working with children/police checks.

It was great to leave my dog, house and garden in Donna's care. Donna was reliable, kind and thoughtful and I knew Kaiya would be well looked after. Lovely to come home to a clean, tidy house and happy dog! Would happily recommend Donna.
