I have been suffering from eye problems... a cataract in my left is a real problem. I can only see with my right eye. So doing these photo restorations has been quite a chore.
I am booked in for eye surgery in two weeks.
However, until then I am still tinkering with photo images.............
Below are 2 work in progress images and 1 completed bit of fun.
As you can see I'm using a photo editing program. No AI was used.

An intriguing photograph came my way. It was an image of a beautiful Swedish girl, taken in 1916.
I started out by restoring it in Greyscale (black and White).
Once that was done, decided to colorize it. From there I composited a color background image into it.
All done manually using Affinity Photo editor. No AI was used.

I see this a lot - purposely damaged photographs.
In this case, a photograph that has been defaced with a blue ink pen.
It is quite a task to repair/restore images like these.
The image itself is of poor quality, let alone the addition of blue ink scribble.
I know that rescuing it will mean a lot to the owner of the photograph. So I will prevail.

An opportunity arose for me to use modern-day technology to restore a very old glass plate photo negative.
The first image shows the original negative at the top and the "developed" image at the bottom.
This was done, by inverting the image.
The second image shows the restored version of that image.
All this was done, using Affinity Photo Editor tools.
No AI was used to create it.

A complicated photo to restore.
This image was taken during the bombing blitz on England in the 1940's.
The original image has a lot of poorly defined elements.
There are eleven children in the image. I will restore their images, one at a time.
I will take a while to do it.

To give you some idea of the lengths will I go to to repair/restore damaged images, here is a, work-in-progress, example.
It is an old, badly damaged glass plate photograph.
To repair the damage, I cut, paste, and modify, sections of the image to replace some of these areas,
It is very time-consuming.

Many are quite challenging to do.
The images, shown here, are before and after views.
All of the editing is being carried out using the Affinity Photo editor.
I do not use any AI apps to render these images.
