Meet Dr. Vajna Rafeek 🤩
Dr. Vajna Rafeek is a highly experienced General Practitioner with extensive expertise in gynaecology, obstetrics, fertility, menopause, child health, and dermatology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, in 1996, where she was part of the pioneering team that introduced IVF in the country.
Following further training in the UK with the NHS, Dr. Rafeek gained valuable experience supporting women through complex reproductive health concerns. She later moved to Australia, training in emergency medicine and working at Northern Hospital, Epping, before transitioning into general practice.
As a shared maternity care provider, she collaborates closely with The Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Health, and Northern and Western Health, ensuring holistic, continuous care for women throughout their pregnancy journey.
Dr. Rafeek is passionate about family medicine, patient education, and lifelong learning. She actively mentors IMGs and GP registrars, and continues to broaden her clinical interests in dermatology and child health. Outside of work, she enjoys badminton and literary pursuits to maintain her work-life balance.

Dr. Chandima Karunathilaka graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2009. She obtained her Australian Medical Council certificate in 2013. She became a Fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021. Dr Karunathilaka is an accomplished GP offering exceptional care to the communities in and around Craigieburn over 10 years now. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience in various aspects of general practice, with a particular focus on child health, women’s health and chronic disease management.
