The Commonwealth Government has passed a new Aged Care Act, taking effect on 1 November 2025.
This means Australia’s current Home Care Package (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) programs will be replaced by the new Support at Home (SAH) program.

Here’s what this means for you:

✅ If you already have a HCP by 31 October 2025, you’ll automatically move into the SAH program — no new assessments required.
✅ You’ll now be called a Participant under SAH.
✅ You’ll receive the same yearly funding as before.
✅ Any unspent HCP funds will roll over and can be used for home modifications or equipment.
✅ No Basic Daily Fees or Package Management Fees will apply.

This transition aims to make aged care simpler, fairer, and more flexible — so you can continue living comfortably at home with the right support.
