Our Story

Tanya Jordan is the face of T n J's Assessment and Counselling Services. She is a qualified Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers and is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. Tanya is also a qualified Youth Worker and has completed her Masters in Social Science (Criminal Justice Administration) The theoretical framework that is used at T n J’s Assessment and Counselling Services is that of the strengths based approach. Within this service we employ a narrative therapy approach and believe that clients are the experts of their own lives and situations and therefore have many skills, abilities, values, commitments, beliefs and competencies that will assist them in changing their relationship with the problems that are currently impacting on their lives. Therapy sessions are holistic in nature and based on working collaboratively as by working together we are able to build on existing capabilities and strengths to move towards identifying healthy ways in which clients are able to meet their goals and move towards having their mental, physical and emotional needs met. The therapeutic approach that Tanya use's within her clinical practice is that of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps people to change unhelpful or unhealthy thinking habits, feelings and behaviours. The therapy sessions will also consist of employing an ‘experiential approach’, which focuses on assisting clients to gain better insight into ‘the here and now’, by learning more about their current feelings and situations. Tanya provides counselling to people who are suffering with depression and anxiety. In addition Tanya has a great deal of experience in conducting forensic clinical assessments and delivering offence specific intervention to men and women who have been convicted of violent offences Tanya is a Medicare Provider and accepts referrals from General Practitioners
