Australia's first dementia-friendly trail has been unveiled in Ballarat.

The Dementia-Friendly Forest & Sensory Trail is located at the entry to Woowookarung Regional Park in Katy Ryans Road (near Elsworth Street).

According to the Ballarat Times News Group, the inclusive trail boasts "wetlands, a boardwalk and six circular outdoor rooms with large rocks where people with dementia, their carers, friends and families or other visiting community groups can rest and enjoy the smells, sights, sounds and textures of the bush".

Dementia Alliance Ballarat founder Anne Tudor was the driving force behind the project.
