New Generation YOGA - Sydney Iyengar Yoga Welcome to New Generation Yoga. Classes and retreats with Suzi Chin Silicz, Level 2 Certified Iyengar The method of yoga is from the legendary BKS Iyengar.

New Generation Yoga Sydney's goal is to teach Yoga and it's true methodology to you. Iyengar Yoga is the type of yoga recommended by many Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Psychotherapists world wide as it has an emphasis on the alignment of the musculoskeletal structure of the body.

'Iyengar' Yoga is a revolutionary approach to classical hatha yoga. It is a phenomena and life changing and can be practiced and taught to anyone, of any age, capacity and body type. We offer:

Recovery Management Therapy Classes
Corporate classes & workshops
Experienced Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Suzi Chin is the principal teacher at NG Yoga Sydney and is an experienced Ji Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Currently Suzi teaches classes and workshops in Potts Point, Sydney as well as retreats in Australia and overseas. Suzi originally trained with Caroline Coggins, teaching for many years at the Yoga Centre East Redfern - an Iyengar Institute. Suzi has also studied with the Iyengars in Pune, India and in Australia at various Iyengar conventions. Suzi has practiced and taught yoga in Sydney, Australia for over 35 years.

💛😊 This is JOY and LOVE as pure as it gets.
In a complex and complicated world be in the glimmer or robust presence of what make you smile, laugh and feel sparks of divinity ⚡️
Teaching brings me ALOT of joy. But not without the challenges.
One thing for certain is that Yoga strives to shine the light into the body and mind.
BKS Iyengar named his ‘bible of yoga’ book Light on Yoga for this reason.
Even though life can bring incredible sorrow or hardships, remember that you hold the sparks of divinity, the light.
BKS Iyengar said :
“It is through your body that you realize you are a spark of divinity”.
We all have history with memories that we carry in our hearts. It’s a big load for some. Make time to reach out to your friends and family. Our fathers, on this Fathers Day, can also be our mothers, our aunties, our brothers and sisters, our step mums and dads, our teachers.
People that laughed and cried with you and had that soul time with you.

TFW YOGA isn’t all peace and mung beans. 🥺 as so brilliantly depicted here in this cartoon by Matt Furie.
Yoga is an emotional journey for sure. It shines the light on darkness but also can reveal negative thoughts and mind states, and that’s part of the process that’s rarely talked about.
When covid hit, we all had to deal with challenges to our well placed foundations as well as our own personal worlds.
Whilst yoga teachers aren’t necessarily therapists we understand that the practice encompasses many psychological building blocks to help navigate life.
Yoga by its very nature of application, concentration and experimentation brings us to challenge the mental, physical and spiritual self.
We learn how to be more compassionate, strong, self-effacing, willing, shrewd, focused, gentle.... qualities that help us see ourselves.

INTENSIVES include people who have practised for years and want refresh and refine what’s already been instilled in them to those who are relatively new to Iyengar Yoga and full of enthusiasm!

When we get together as a group, we see and feel a collective energy that is unique to the workings of an intensive and the inspiration this creates. It is here that we play the edges of practise individually and collectively and spring is an ideal and wonderful time for this.

Schedule: Friday 6.00-7.30 PM, Saturday 7.30-9.30 AM and 3.30-5.30 PM, Sunday 9.00-11.00 AM.

Attend Level: *General and Experienced (*at least 2 years regular yoga)

USING WEIGHT to soften muscle tissue is a common practice in Iyengar Yoga and has to be experienced. These sandbags are placed across the shoulders with the goal to release tension and relax the brain - thus encouraging a quietening of the nervous system. We get so tense living in cities!!

NEXT WEEK JUNE 24 & 27 These mornings online will give you time at home to get into your own body and mind space.

Restorative yoga is a unique practise focussed on creating openess and steadiness into the body and mind.

We all need time to keep learning how to heal and rejuvanate ourselves. 

Start with inviting the body into various supported yoga asanas and experience the effect of different Iyengar sequences that offer support in healing whether it be from stress, injury or illness OR simply carving out time to relax. 

Some people yearn for restorative yoga solely for it’s cognitive benefits alone.  
To quieten the ever-thinking brain that can fully take over our lives and nervous system.

Ultimately, a quieter mind, balanced body and open heart helps us to respond more effectively to life’s highs and lows  with compassion for ourselves and others.
