Over the past 21 years as a Midwife I have personal experience in all of these models of care so can help you apply the calmbirth tools that are right for you!!

Over a weekend, you and your birth partner will learn powerful tools to navigate labour with confidence, reduce fear, and embrace birth as a positive experience. We’ll also explore the crucial early weeks with your newborn, helping you set realistic expectations and plan for rest, recovery, and bonding in your newborn bubble.

💬 Here’s what couples from my course just last weekend had to say:
🌿 “Thank you so much, Michelle! I feel very empowered and excited for birth. Your way of teaching was great. Loved your examples and your real-life experience really helped!”
🌿 “Michelle made both my partner and I feel so safe and comfortable from the moment we walked into the start of the course. She is thoughtful, knowledgeable, thorough and calming in every aspect of the way she teaches and delivers the course. Michelle made us feel empowered to take on all aspects of labour and birth as a team. The amount of tools and options we now have up our sleeve makes us feel so confident and that’s all thanks to Michelle. And all in all we thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend learning with Michelle guiding us."
🌿 “We loved the calm birth course with Michelle. We were able to ask so many questions and Michelle shared her years of knowledge. I definitely feel way less anxious about birth and labour. Thanks to Michelle I feel as ready as I can be and I feel strong and empowered. Thank you so much for your guidance."
🌿"Michelle provides an open space where judgement is completely removed. She answered all our questions and pointing us in the direction of fantastic sources that have proven to be incredibly useful for us. It was initially daunting for us to think of how much information there must be if it’s covered over two days, but the beautiful way Michelle delivers the course makes the information so easy to digest. Michelle clearly has a passion for being a midwife and this shined through the whole weekend. We walked away empowered, happy and feeling prepared and ready for birth. We are so thankful to her for sharing such a wealth of information and experience with us. We cannot recommend this course highly enough! Absolutely incredible, 10/10"

🤰🍴 Pregnancy Food Safety Tips in Australia 🍴🤰

Did you know you shouldn't be eating Hommus/Hummous (whichever spelling you prefer!!) in Pregnancy?
Only added to the list of unsafe foods in pregnancy in the last 2yrs all foods containing Tahini should now be avoided whilst you're pregnant......

🌼 As birth educators, we understand the importance of keeping both you and your baby safe and healthy during this precious journey. So lets recap on some essential food safety tips to help you enjoy a worry-free pregnancy here in Australia:

Choose Wisely: Avoid risky foods like soft cheeses, prepackaged salads, raw seafood, and undercooked meats. Opt for well-cooked, nutritious options.

Clean Hands Rule: Always wash your hands before handling food – it's a simple yet powerful way to protect yourself.

Separate Smartly: Use separate cutting boards and utensils for raw and ready-to-eat foods. Prevent cross-contamination!

Cook with Care: Ensure meat, poultry, and seafood are cooked to safe internal temperatures. Safety first!

No to Raw Milk: Say no to unpasteurised dairy products – they can be a source of harm.

Beat Listeria: Heat up leftovers and ready-to-eat foods until they're piping hot. Make sure Listeria doesn't stand a chance!

Variety is Key: Nourish your body with nutrient-dense foods like fruits, veggies, lean proteins, whole grains, and low-fat dairy.

Stay Hydrated: Keep the fluids coming – water is your best friend! Limit sugary and caffeinated drinks.

Personalised Care: Consult with your healthcare provider for a tailored nutrition plan that suits your unique needs.

Remember, your health and your baby's well-being are the top priorities. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need support. Here's to a safe and joyful pregnancy journey!

🌟 Adrenaline in Labour & Birth 🌟

Hey there all you pregnant Mums! 🤰💪 Let's have a chat about adrenaline and its role during labour and birth

🤔 Adrenaline, often dubbed the "fight or flight" hormone, can make an appearance during labour. It's the same stuff that gets your heart racing when you spot a spider the size of a dinner plate! 🕷️ But here's the scoop: it can be both a help and a hindrance during childbirth. 🤷‍♀️

🌪️ When adrenaline kicks in, it can heighten your senses, increase alertness, and give you a burst of energy. Sounds like a handy mate, right? Well, in the early stages of labour, it can indeed help you cope with contractions and keep you on your toes. 🦘

💥 But here's the kicker: too much adrenaline can slow things down. Your body can interpret stress as a signal to delay labour, making the whole process take longer. So, finding your zen and keeping stress at bay is important. 🧘‍♀️

🌿 Breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and surrounding yourself with supportive birthing partners can help keep adrenaline in check. Remember, your body is designed for this incredible journey, and you've got the strength within you. 💪❤️

✨ In the end, it's all about finding the right balance. Adrenaline can be a handy ally or a tricky foe during childbirth, depending on how you manage it. Trust your body, stay calm, and let nature do its thing. You've got this! 🇦🇺👶💖

🌜🤰 Harnessing Melatonin's Role in Pregnancy and Labour! 🌟👶

Today we're going to share some valuable insights about melatonin's pivotal role during your pregnancy and labour journey. 🌙

🌟 The Marvelous Melatonin:
Melatonin, often known as the "sleep hormone," is produced by your pineal gland, and it holds a significant place in the magical process of bringing new life into this world. Let's dive into how it influences your pregnancy and labour. 🤔

👶 Pregnancy & Melatonin:
During pregnancy, your body goes through numerous changes, and melatonin levels naturally increase. This hormone helps regulate your body's internal clock, ensuring you get the rest you need for a healthy pregnancy. So, prioritize your sleep, where you can! 😴

🤰 Melatonin's Labour Prowess:
When the time comes for labour, melatonin continues to shine. It plays a crucial role in timing contractions and supporting cervical dilation by enhancing the power of our favourite hormone, oxytocin. Trust in your body's wisdom, practice relaxation techniques, and let melatonin be your ally during this incredible journey. 💪

💡 Midwife's Tips for Melatonin Boost:
1️⃣ Create a soothing bedtime ritual with soft lighting.
2️⃣ Reduce exposure to screens and bright lights before bedtime.
3️⃣ Embrace relaxation practices like meditation or gentle prenatal yoga.
4️⃣ Enjoy daily doses of fresh air and natural sunlight for a healthy sleep-wake cycle.

Remember, each pregnancy is unique, and it's essential to stay in close contact with your midwife or obstetrician for personalised guidance and support. They're ready to walk this path with you. 🤱🩺

Stay resilient, stay positive, and trust in the power of melatonin as you navigate the wondrous journey of pregnancy and labour 💕🌟

🤰 Embracing the Power of Endorphins: Day 4 of our journey through the hormones of Pregnancy and Birth 🌟

Pregnancy is an incredible journey, full of ups, downs, and moments of pure wonder. Today, let's talk about a superhero hormone that plays a vital role during this incredible journey: ENDORPHINS! 💪🌈

🌼 Endorphins are your body's natural painkillers and mood elevators. They are like your body's built-in cheerleaders, especially during labour and birth. Here's why they're so amazing:

1️⃣ Pain Relief: As you prepare to bring your precious bundle of joy into the world, endorphins swoop in to help manage those contractions. They reduce the perception of pain, making the process a bit more manageable.

2️⃣ Mood Booster: Pregnancy hormones can sometimes make you feel like you're on a rollercoaster ride. Endorphins, on the other hand, are here to lift your spirits! They promote feelings of happiness, reduce anxiety, and can even help combat the "baby blues."

3️⃣ Bonding Magic: When those endorphins are released during labour, they not only help you, but they also create a strong bond between you and your little one. A beautiful start to a lifetime of love.

So, how can you boost those endorphin levels during pregnancy and labour? 🌟

1️⃣ Stay Active: Gentle exercises like yoga and swimming can trigger endorphin release and keep you feeling good.

2️⃣ Laughter Therapy: Surround yourself with positivity, watch funny movies, and share laughs with your loved ones.

3️⃣ Deep Breathing: Practice deep, mindful breathing techniques to manage stress and pain.

4️⃣ Support System: Lean on your partner, family, and friends for emotional support. They can be your source of positivity.

Remember this Mummas, you are stronger than you know, and your body is designed for this incredible journey. 🌟 Embrace the power of endorphins, stay positive, and trust in your body's abilities. You've got this! 💪❤️
